  • Today has been a draining day! I managed to get a doctor's appointment to see about my current wrist issues. It woild seem to be a soft tissue damage thing that could take months to heal. And here was me hoping to get 2 of those velcro wrist splint thingies on prescription! Daft idea!

So I dropped dh off where he needed to be and scooted into town to the big B00ts and got myself 2 neoprene wrist wraps (buy 1 get 1 half price, no less). I know that I could 'justify' the spend, and I used points to pay instead of hard cash. However, I had to pay for parking (£1.20) and then went on to a funeral service and somehow managed to park in the wrong zone and came out of church to a penalty fine of £110, or £55 if I pay quickly. I'm not even cross with myself - tho I think dh is a little miffed with me! - just resigned to having got it wrong + having to pay.

To finish off the day, I'm just in from prizegiving. It was lovely, but I left as sson as I could as I just wasn't in the mood.

I'm grateful I was seen by a doc today; grateful for the neoprene wraps; grateful for a dh who made me scrambled eggs before I had to do out; grateful for a functioning car; very grateful that tomorrow is the weekend!

Should be another spend-free day tomorrow as I am back at work.

Morning everyone. SFD for me again yesterday and didn't have to take lunch as it was provided (I love freebies!).
On 21st I get paid for the month so my budgets reset then. How do those who don't get paid at the end of the month manage their budgets for this challenge. I've used this month as a tester and it's been really useful but want to do it properly with fixed allocated budgets next month. Any suggestions?
NSK I found your post about your debt journey very moving - particularly about the personal cost to you and reflect that although being in debt has made me miserable and at times frightened about the way ahead - tackling the debt makes me feel strong, empowered and happier.
Posting each Day makes you reflect on your progress and strive to achieve more. Happy Saturday everyone. X

I picked it up from Facebook, think it's called How to have more money as a student or something like that. Highlights cheap deals. Just everything you put into yr basket with New Look that day came out half price. Wishing I did more now.

Well walked dog, cleaned showhouse, coffee and tidy up next. Sfd planned woodland walk with grandson and daughter this afternoon. Nice chill out day.:T

  • Just off to have a spendy day. Got to buy some things for work - stationary and the like so that doesn't really count! Also got to get some groceries so gonna to park at sainsburys for free parking and then I can pop into the town as well. Going to scoot around the charity shops to see if I can get some tea cups to plant my indoor paper white narcissi as Christmas presents for grannies from the boys (got to get them planted otherwise they won't flower for Christmas!) also going to have a quick look for jumpers in charity shops as I am soooo cold!

    See you later!

  • Just had it confirmed that the amount of Tax Credit we have to repay is... £1856.22! Don't need to start until next year but still frustrating. We've been so conscientious about telling them about every small change. I'm not disputing it, I know we had the money but after struggling to get close to debt freedom, to have this added on to it through no fault of ours is a bit
    • Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

  • I'm not leaving the house today, so it will be my 10th sfd :)

Had my planned day out yesterday, catching up with a good friend of mine. I paid for the bus to where she lives (£6) so she bought us brunch and a drink as she walked in to meet me.

So after discovering yesterday that my budgets were wrong, and I had effectively already spent all my money until 25th, I have made myself a super dooper spreadsheet. I was previously using a spreadsheet on my iPad, but it just wasn't good enough, so have swapped to the laptop where I feel more comfortable using excel :)

Today was a spend day as I did the last bit of shopping from the money we redesignated yesterday. I spent £26.61 on food for the next 9 days, £10 on OHs petrol and £15.04 on my petrol. Fingers crossed, apart from a couple of loaves of bread, that is all the spending done until payday.
