I personally don't have a problem with putting petrol on the cc if it's paid off without incurring interest charges and you're getting loyalty points etc. For this challenge though I think petrol money should be budgeted and the cash is in an envelope (or jam jar
) waiting to make a purchase. Having said that, you should never put your safety at risk by possibly running out of fuel which is why putting petrol in the car doesn't count as a Spend Day. Do what you feel is right for you. Here's a suggestion, why not budget and use cash for this month, and if you haven't budgeted enough then use the card and then next month increase your budget.
Sounds like a good idea - I've put one lot on the card so far this month but will try to use cash for the next one. I still get the Points whether I pay cash or by card so the delaying of the payment doesn't make a big difference. Thanks for the advice
Another SFD today but best of all news is that I managed to clear house and hand it over to new tenant yesterday - have received deposit and first months rent. It's a huge weight off my mind. Also managed to give 20+ items to charity. Bought petrol and have updated signature to show budget up to pay day.
Another question.... When you update what you have paid off your debts (those that do) do you include minimum payments, how do you judge what is outstanding (ie interest rates upping the monthly figure) etc or is the figure a guesstimate? I'm not sure how important it is to be absolutely accurate but I think seeing the amount I owe declining will be a really powerful way of keeping me on track. I've also seen a challenge that looks at payments as overall percentage of debt so it makes a more achievable shorter term target.1 debt in 100 days £48.43/£374 - over 10% paid!

good morning, just updating my figures. I got some free furniture arriving - two beds and a desk for my son. All advertised on my local community facebook site.
I still have yet to list some saleable stuff on there, just haven't had anytime yet.
The car has got a split tyre so that needs to go to the garage today - my DH put on the emergency one last night so at least I can drive there. In any case, we need to put the winter tyres on now so it shouldn't be too bad.
Have a great day

Happy Friday!
Sorry not checked in for a few days caught up in fireworks & head stuck in a book (Hunger Games on wait list at library for Catching Fire so excited!)
Managed 4 SFDs in a row, lunch to work too, but had to buy some shopping yesterday. No milk, bread, and v little fresh fruit - half a melon for 4 people. Pretty much sorted for the week at £35 in hey diddle lid!
Today will be SFD & lunch to work, but tomorrow is the postponed meal so might double up & get some Christmas presents the Christmas outfits in before they sell out.
Have fun

MORNING!!!
Oh look - after a late night I am back in work! Deep Joy! :rotfl:Fmess I feel your pain but the moment you were posting I was already at the train station...:)..(you naughty chocolate muncher you........)
However it is Friday and I am trying to maneovre todays occurances so I can squeeze everything in AND get home to bake that darn apple crumble I now promised my friends tomorrow. So it means a trip into town for basics and a gym session - not sure which to do first so need to think about this ...(saddo)..
Siousxie something made me think you used the Piccadilly one so perhaps those nut dispencers are just for nuts and not making the butter..hmmm I might have to investigate a bigger one. I am going to avoid them today until next spend day ( next Friday ) as there is nothing I specifically need from them and I can get tempted too easily when I walk in there. Best just not to attend altogether!! - and yes I get excited over mattress toppers and pj's as well - you are not alone!
Kerfuffle - cannot believe you have to donate money to the "bosses".. shocking! I would laugh my head off if our lot suggested that! Although I like that you get an offical letter - some unfortunate sod in our office usually starts looking for names in October, deposits in November, confirmations in December again and all this for the local pub...:rotfl:
Tiptoes - so glad you OH is looking after you and you managed to save an SFD. Back in the days when I bought takeaways now and then an indian from our local cost £30 for two people - RIP OFF! And that wasn't really including anything special either! Glad the chocolate cake did the job.......
Pheonix/Siouxsie - yes a massive savings indeed. I am waiting for his number to be passed to me and confirmation of bike parking. I am also dreading him telling me it's available tomorrow... as I would like to get through Christmas without moving.. but yes a significant reduction of posessions would be in order and I think I would have to sell my bed as well which was on my to-do list anyway....might consider doing that sooner rather than later... however there are items then that I would have to send back to my parents...(sorry Mummy...).. and items I can't part with...:(
So I am rearranging my funds.. I spent £8.50 of my beauty budget out of my food allowance so with £140 sat in my account from my Mum I am claiming that back. It can be rounded to £10 for ease I think.
I also put £72.01 on my credit card. £300 left. £130 to come from Mumsy as she has offered to pay for my flight home for Christmas and the rest is bike item spread between now and December as planned.
The bank also told me there will be a rough £16 - £18 interest added to the end payment I will make on the 2nd December. So annoyed payday is on a Friday and I can't get it all sorted by the 31st but hey ho... it's still 30 days earlier than planned...
Katrss - your updated totals should include everything that is deducted each month be it minimal payments or over payments and every time you manage an overpayment be it £1 or £10.... I never calculate interest as it comes once every three months on my loan... but I will comment on it on this thread should it be added like it was a month ago to the total of £85 - I was not happy but I kind new it was coming.... and yes seeing the total dimish into oblivion helps A LOT!!! ...However Congrats on the house rental! Well chuffed for you!
Okay I am off to play some jiggery-pokery with my spreadsheet...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -

I have just got an App for my iPhone called Debt Strategy. You list your debts, the interest as well as the minimum payment, add your payments and detail how much you have paid above the minimum. It shows you the date for clearing the debt as well as how much you've paid in % terms. Its free version allows you to put in 2-4 debts. Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

Gooood morning!!! Wow, everyone is doing really well :T
Stupid hormones have settled again and I'm in a much better mood today (sun is shining too). It also helped that I managed to squeeze back into my other pair of jeans and can put off buying new ones
. Today should be SFD number 7 unless we decide to do the weekly shop tonight instead of on the weekend as OH will be away with the car and DS. Took stock of my freezer and cupboards and will make a list to get in just above £30 so I can use my £5 off 30 voucher in Aldi. As they don't have a bakery I will then use a £1.10 off your next shop voucher for fresh rolls in Tesco. If all goes to plan I will have just spend over 100 quid for groceries to last us the first two weeks and some longer which is unheard off.

Yesterday was an SFD for me. OH did some grocery shopping, which I’ve added to the monthly totals posted yesterday. I’ve been noticing the‘pull’ of the shops as I’ve been leaving work. My walk to the train station isin the direction of the city centre and at one point I can see all the lightsand they look so pretty and inviting. But when I think about it logically, “Idon’t want to be home 30 mins or an hour later”, “I don’t need anything”, “It’sall a trap to get me to spend my hard earned cash” I find it very easy to justwalk around the corner towards the train and keep on going.
I cashed out £5 from $w4gb0ck$ and booked another mysteryshop for Monday. I also completed some more mystery shopping training online toincrease my chances of getting well paid visits. I still haven’t been assignedthe two £30 ones I applied for but they haven’t been allocated to someone elseeither.
I won’t be getting my work expenses for two week, as mymanager is on holiday and can’t sign them off. But I will be getting some extrapay this month as the ‘market supplement’ I get paid was too low last month sothey’ll be backdating that as well as putting it up to the proper level thismonth. It won’t be a great deal but, ‘Every Little Helps!’
Annoying the school and the school and the nursery have sent letter homewith requests for money for various this, Children in Need and a Santa thingy. They've not been budgetted for. Not a great expense, but just annoying. Also, DD school photos proofs arrived and we have to decide if and what we're going to buy and they ARE expensive!- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Morning
Sneaky update from work whilst waiting for a program to run.
I thought I was going to have to have a totally unplanned for and annoying spend yesterday. I got all my tidying and some sorting done in the morning, had the estate agent round and then went off to the tip and the storage place. My last errand was to take my parcel of DVD's to a drop off point.
All fine, looked up the location on my phone and found the place. Not on my normal adventures so I didn't know where to park. I knew there was a little car park but I would have to pay. So there I was thinking, there goes my SFD. I drove round and found another car park, bigger, and closer. Again, I thought I was going to have to pay. Drove into the car park, resigned to the fact, and spied the sign. First hour parking was free!!!! Result. There were some conditions, which I didn't read. I just parked and quickly ran to the shop with my parcel and then skedaddled.
I'm really glad I didn't have to spend in the end, but before, I would have quite happily shoved some money in the machine.
Getting down to the bottom of my fresh fruit but I have four tins of peach slices to get me through to the next shopping trip. Last month I made the mistake of eating the tinned fruit first and then my bananas went black. I tried to use them in some muesli type flapjack things, but the bananas had gone too far. They were awful, and that awfulness was verified by work colleagues. So, lesson learnt there. Fresh stuff first.
I even managed to save a loaf of bread I bought last Friday. I bought it for my guest in case they wanted toast or something, and forgot about it. I do not generally eat sliced bread, because I always forget about it and it goes mouldy, so I stopped buying it. I had a real desire for toasted sandwiches yesterday. Got home and checked I hadn't packed and stored the sandwich toaster. It was still there so I made as many toasted sandwiches as the loaf allowed.
Two have come for lunch today, two for lunch tomorrow and two were tea last night. They don't taste too bad with a quick blast in the microwave to warm them up. A little chewy, but they do the job.Feb NST #4
