  • OMG - We have our neighbours doing a firework display out the front (we live in a cul-de-sac) So we were all watching from our front window, only to find the 6 year old girl holding fireworks by and lighting it :eek::eek::eek::eek:. Her Dad just standing there encouraging it. I now have my 7 year old son telling me the rules of handling fireworks. I feel safe to say that I know my son knows something about firework safety (thank you school for talking about it today)
  • failed NSD. forgot about auctions ending on fleabay. £7.75 spent. also spent £5.05 in the coop - admittedly all purchases were bogofs, but still not yellow stickers. what's the date? the 5th??? got my suspicions I won't be managing the NSDs part of this challenge.

    Evening all,

:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:
  • LoveaDove Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a lovely present of a pizza stone today. A thoughtful and lovely present which I am looking forward to try it this saturday :p Other than that I spend the morning painting and doing the school run as usual. I'm 31 going on 70 clearly!

NSK Sorry to hear that you have to move. I remember the feeling of unsettledness so well, only moved into my own crumbling pad this April and have moved more times than I care to remember. My worst moving experience was moving from student Halls to shared housing in London. It was like passing some sort of 'cool-test 'to get accepted to a house and it was so stressful not 'passing' some of them. I may come across as a complete nutcase here, I am not I promise, but I can't 'switch on' cool if you see what I mean. Lots of fun to be with but a bit uptight just as you meet me. I ended up having to live three weeks one friends sofa until I had a place. Apart from that horrible time I found each moving session stressful with the timing of the physical move, the switching of addresses, change of route to work/gym... Hope I'm not bringing you down by outlining it all but basically I just wanted to say I feel your pain and hope you find somewhere really lovely which you can stay in for as long as you like soon. Good luck with the hunt!

Like I said I spent the morning painting and looking after my littlest daughter before heading off to pick up my oldest daughter from school. I had to put petrol on the car unfortunately, was hoping (or putting head in sand) that I would be able to eek it out until Thursay when I plan to do my shopping but no chance. I thought running out of petrol with an infant in the car would be a tad irresponsible to filled it up. Therefore:

    SFD - 4/25
    Food - 0/300
    Petrol - 53/250
    Food bank - 0/3
    Declutter - 7/20
    Extra money earned - 0/80
    Christmas shopping 0/200
    Outing 0/12
    Birthday for brother 0/20

I made a veg soup with some sorry looking veg today and a bit of red lentils, made a very tick and lush soup which I served with home made bread. Nothing is better than that on a chilly evening :o Although I overdid it on the garlic front...it was very very garlicy. I figure it is okay as I'm not at work at the mo...hehe! Tomorrow I am doing a repeat of today, including eating the same soup as there was tons left and we have swimming for the eldest in the evening. That will see me through to Thursday and my most meticulously planned shop to date (I literally mean 'to date as in ever in my life':rotfl:)

By the way chaps and chapettes, yesterday there was a discussion about durability of fresh products and I remembered that I had a brilliant tip of someone (a chef) on how to preserve lettuce. The thing to do is to clean the lettuce and break it off so its single leafs. Then place the cleaned and damp leaves in a food bag or other container (only done this with freezer bags myself) layered with a couple of pieces of kitchen paper. The kitchen paper will become damp and this dampness will keep the lettuce leaves fresh. It makes the leaves last up to a week depending on your fridge.

Right, baby is asleep so I will go to bed to catch some rest too. Which must up my "cool" vibe considerably I'm sure... :D
Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

Happy Birthday EyesWideOpen! sounds like you had a good day.
NSK sorry to hear you have to move again... I spent the last 15 years moving at least once a year too, it's such a pain, unsettling and expensive. OH and I realised we have been here a year at Xmas, and have no plans to move - let's hope the landlord feels the same!

SFD 3 here today. Lovely smoked salmon risotto for dinner tonight with smart price salmon trimmings... cheap and tasty freezer / cupboard meal. Re the discussion earlier, I certainly find since we've been MSE I have far less fresh fruit and veg and far more stodge. But it's also coincided with winter so it might be a bit of both?

Liliyanna hope your fitness test goes ok tomorrow.. sounds a bit scary.

I'm just trying to get used to this sudden change in temperature, coupled with the dark mornings and dark nights. Trying to keep my pecker up and keep motivated with money saving, and exercising, and keeping focused at work. We have a few things to look forward to this month that were already booked and paid for before the LBM, so excited about those (theatre and comedy) and a party in a few weeks which should be cheap but fun. I really struggle with the cold though, and the dark is such a depressant and makes it hard for me to get out for a run or bike ride - my usual stress busters. But, so far, doing good, and taking motivation from here daily!

    keep warm chaps and chapesses

NSK- Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner but am sorry to hear you are having to move :-( what a bummer. I can't imagine how unsettling this must be as you have moved around so much.
Still I believe everything happens for a reason, maybe somewhere even better is just waiting for you ;-)
