  • Evening. I am chilling out in bed on the laptop and have been reading your updates :)

I also plan to have 25 no alcohol days and am recording this in my siggy. Failed tonight though as having a sneaky vodka and coke. I have however decided that once the alcohol in the house has gone, I can only buy more if there is spare money in the grocery budget (unlikely knowing me). I have no budget for alcohol this month other than on my one night out (Fri 15th meal and drinks £30 max).

Today turned out to be a spend day for me. I took M to a party at a play centre and spent £3.30 on coffee and a tea cake :o Not bad in the whole scheme of things but should be delcared. I had planned to have the coffee but not the tea cake although I did find £3 in the car to put towards it! I spent a bit of time this morning updating my spread sheets and working out how to split my cash income (weekly board from hubby and any avon profit) to pay for food/fuel and my one night out without using my bank at all. Seems doable.

I didn't go to the fireworks. Just couldn't get warm earlier so husband took M in the end and I have promised to go to the display near our house (local pub) on Tuesday night. Not sure if I will be able to get away with not spending at that but I will try. It isn't that hard not to buy a drink though as the place is mobbed and it is impossible to get to the bar. They usually have a couple of fair rides though which M will want to go on. I do have my £6 leftover from my fair budget.. we will see.

While I had some time to myself, I have begun listing things on ebay. I have 13 listings now, some of which are buy it now for multiple items. Fingers crossed for some sales. Will try to do some more this week.

Tomorrow should be a SFD. I am off work and M has a training day.I have a few errands to run, avon books to drop off if the weather is fine, letters to post but nothing costing money. General household chores also need to be done and prep for school/beavers.

Food wise today, we had a cooked breakfast again this morning, I had a bit of leftover pasta with pesto and tomato for lunch and then we had apple crumble out the freezer for tea. I have just had a bagel and dairylea for supper. I got something out of the freezer which turned out to be chilli and rice but it went all watery and didn't look right so have binned it.

I have tidied the freezer and there are a few 'mystery meals' in there. I have got one out for tomorrow, it might be pasta or pasta sauce, it might be curry! It may end up in the bin but if it is ok I will have it for lunch! I will report back. It is probably rather old... I am ashamed to say, I am great at freezing portions of things but sometimes they get pushed to the back and forgotten and are rarely labeled although I am getting better at this. All my fruit is together now and all my savoury. Some is even labeled and dated. The rest, well I will work through and see what happens. I have got quorn cottage pie out for tomorrow tea for me and M and some sausage for hubby. I have potatoes, broccoli and sprouts to have with them. I will save the cabbage and carrots for later in the week as they keep longer.

  • Everybody look outside! That is what I am about to ride home in. Work finishes in 20 minutes and I shall resemble a drowned rat as I haven't water-proofed my bits properly!:(:(:(

Softly softly for these OH's.. :)

Millet is basically tasless so I use is in a lot of things. I have no choise. For those of you who don't know why we are always talking about millet.. I bought 1KG of the stuff, lost it somewhere in my kitchen and forgot I had it then bought another 1.5KG on offer from Holland and Barrett.. 2.5KG of the stuff means I am eating it since the beginning of October...

Toast it in oil in a saucepand first, then add water to cook it. It will taste better apparently.. then add it to everything. I have it for breaky sometimes too...

Right. Signing off for the evening. As you can see I have had to add my totals so I can keep a good check on them. Hasn't stopped me making a list for next week's foodage...

OT today = £180. That's my budget met for the month however I know how horrible it is for those who cannot earn OT (overtime) or are not working at the moment so perhaps you could cane the survey sites...? Anyone have other ideas..?

    Right - signing off....

But he's now the one saying but thats the way x, y, and z have to be done. Why do i need to buy the bridemaid a dress if she's got a nice one. Why do we need sit down dinner for 50? Yes you've been to their wedding, doesnt mean they have to come to ours. And so on and on. Fair enough I(m glad he's saying he'll only do it once but i dont want to have to worry about money all day that day or never get round to speak to blooming 100+ guests. Argh...sorry a bit hormonal and have just discovered that at only 20 weeks pregnant only one trouser still fits. Last time i wore them all the way through.

    Sorryabout that

Evening everybody and happy bday mrs toast.

Today was a spend free day which I am feeling pretty good about really. That is number 2.
    :D

Raided the freezer and found macaroni cheese that I had batch-cooked previously so cooked that up and had it with some chips for my tea. Yum yum.
    :)

I expect monday and tuesday to be spend free days as I am working and normally can't be bothered doing anything afterwards. The joys of 12 hours shifts.

Hi Apple muncher, I'm coeliac too :)

There seems to be quite a few people with different dietary requirements on this challenge. How interesting!

Another one here - not coeliac but I do avoid wheat as it just doesn't agree with me. Made a delicious polenta cake for the wedding I went to on Saturday - better than the disastrous gluten free cupcakes I made earlier in the week!

NSK - we host foreign students in our spare room using a website called homestay. Have only done it for the last 3 weeks - a good way to earn a bit extra. Actually enjoying not having anyone else here at the moment though!

Thriftylass - hope you can come to some agreement about wedding plans with your partner.

I am so obsessed with this challenge! Beginning to think that I'm going to struggle to get to 25 nsd though as I've already had 2 spendy days already. Should be another nsd today thought - working and going to a toddler group (pay fees per month for this group).

    Have a great day everyone!

Morning everyone. Have been quiet for a couple of days as trying to work out whether to continue with challenge. In brief next month is the first month in years that I will have funds available and (hopefully) organised to overpay debts. I've managed to rent out my house and my partner has agreed to me paying just for food for us for the present so.....
This month I'm still paying all bills for my house (had lodger in but this just added to cost by using fuel). I have about £56 left until Friday when I get the first month's rent. Most of this needs to be paid elsewhere but I expect to have about £190 left for food and outings so my budgets have been revised as such.
I get paid on 22nd of month. Before then I have two weeks shopping £90. I put my petrol on a card and pay off at end of month so have just £65 from last month to pay off. As been on hols this month will only have two weeks petrol on next month's statement too. I have a wedding to go to this coming Saturday and will budget for £20 of drink (present purchased by partner as it's his best friend). The following weekend we are going to watch rugby so I will budget just £5 for drinks or maybe take my own.
So in brief I have £246 income and £180 of expenditure so perhaps I can start paying off extra this month?
Kat, thank you for encouraging me to stay with this challenge. I have totalled my debt in my signature and put estimated dfd there too. I will continue trying to have SFDs, increasing income by £80, paying £3 to food bank from groceries budget and giving 20+things to charity.
    1 debt in 100 days £48.43/£374 - over 10% paid!

Oh bless you! I was the same with my second child, got bigger sooner and was out of my favourite maternity jeans that lasted me till the end first time by 30 weeks :(
Weddings are so stressful, we had around 50 guests and I didn't get round to talking to all of them! 6 years later I regret inviting so many people who we thought we should invite because some we haven't spoken to since! On the upside the deal we had with the venue meant it only cost £4k and half of that our parents paid for. I'm sure you will come to some decision as to what you want but you might have to compromise ;)
