Oh bless you! I was the same with my second child, got bigger sooner and was out of my favourite maternity jeans that lasted me till the end first time by 30 weeks :(
Weddings are so stressful, we had around 50 guests and I didn't get round to talking to all of them! 6 years later I regret inviting so many people who we thought we should invite because some we haven't spoken to since! On the upside the deal we had with the venue meant it only cost £4k and half of that our parents paid for. I'm sure you will come to some decision as to what you want but you might have to compromise ;)

Thank you, hormones have settled now ;)

I'm not even talking maternity jeans, lol. I wore my normal ones (used to be wide ones) all the way through last time. Only bought a few tops last time as my jeans fitted under the bumb. This time I'n gaining quicker and more around my bum and thighs. Possibly also due to the cycling I starteD in March. I'm just thinking only 4 months to go and it would be a waste to buy new clothes. Could always sell them I guess. Will check my wardrobe tonight to see what's still wearable.

More re the wedding issue once I'm at work an it's easier to type than on a phone.

    EDIT:

Had another wee chat again this morning about the wedding and came to a compromise. Last night I was just too hormonal and couldn't see his point at all. But because we also have people coming from Ireland and Germany, we'll do the sit-down proper biggish scottish wedding. We agreed on a budget for 50 people for dinner (mainly foreign relations) and another 60 at night. This includes about 20 kids that hopefully won't be paying full price. We thought about 8 grand (sorry to maybe shock some of you with that big number, lol) but that includes dresses, kilt hire, hopefully the rings etc too. Hope to come in under that, but that amount we should almost be able to save* and the rest we borrow from parents if absolutely necessary. We won't be needing a photographer (1k saved) as we got one in the family and we know a few DJs and bands.

    * For the first time in his life OH is able to save money and he told me if we're strict he can put aside £400 in a good month on top of the money I can save including some pennies for 2014 MOT and christmas (well till I'm on Maternity leave from March). So it is doable.

    Morning

Wow there's been A LOT posted while I've been away ~ I definitely haven't got time to read 16 pages!!

Got back from Yorkshire late last night. The first 3 days of November will be sfd's as I took cash I'd saved with me. I will need to shop today though.

Just been quickly looking through the rules ~ I have one planned day out but that is all, although I have got the dentist and opticians this month :(. I've been saving money all year for Christmas but won't be opening the allocated tin till 28th november so there shouldn't be any christmas presents bought yet. I will sort some shopping for the food bank next time I go into town. I won't be setting £5 aside for lunch cos I eat lunch at home everyday anyway. I've already started decluttering. I definitely don't need any more beauty items ~ still got a stash in my wardrobe!

Feeling positive about this months challenge! :D

Hope everyone has a great day

    xx

Just updated figures, Misc spends is high but I've no idea what opticians and dentist will be yet so I've overestimated. I also have DS1 travel and DS2 school dinners to cover.

    xx
  • Hi everyone,

    Checking in for Day 3:

    2/25 SFD
    1/21 lunch
    £5 squirreled away in purse
    Petrol - 0/300.00
    Food - 0/250.00
    Misc. - 0/50.00
    Christmas shopping - 0/40.00
    Car maintenance - 0/150.00
    Toiletries - 0/£10
    Transferred £3 to Trussell Trust

Did an inventory of food cupboards and freezer stocks, and menu planned accordingly - only a small shop later this week :)

    Still to do:
Look at diary to decide on the one outing this month
    declutter 20 things from house
list things on ebay to make some money

    Happy Monday everyone

    rumbly x
  • Made a good start, three NSD's. Just did not buy anything at all. Will be a small spend today as I need to stock up on fruit and veg. Craving some good stuff!
  • Spend free days are going well although having forgotten 1 item on my weekly shopping trip this weekend I may have to go over by one day. If only I'd remembered to put bicarbinate of soda into my shopping basket! Still, baby steps....

Someone very nicely gave us their complete Saturday newspaper which I have been reading all weekend and saved us some valuable pennies. A weekend paper is such a luxury and I balk at buying it when we're skint so this was a lovely treat.

I bought a chicken from our local butcher on Saturday. I jointed it yesterday and have made three generous meals for two and three portions of soup from the bones and carcass. Shopping at the butcher's shop has saved me from all those irresistable bogofs at the supermarket and means I buy just what I need for the week and no more. I also know exactly what I'm buying, am supporting a local business and get some cooking advice too.

£8k in the grand scheme of weddings isn't bad at all. Ours was £4k, ever the bargain hunter I shopped around for everything. We spent most on the photographer and videographer but that was important to us. Some people pay a heck of a lot more and while I think it's important to have the day you want I don't think it's worth being in debt for. Sounds like you have a good plan there :)

  • Morning all, had a SFD yesterday and just a small spend day today. We'd run out of milk and bin bags which my OH will get on his way home from work. We've got enough food to feed us for the rest of the week. My DD is off school today, she's had a bad tummy for the past few days and if it's a bug, I don't want to risk her passing it on. Hopefully she will be better for tomorrow.

So far we've managed 2 SFDs. OH had a blocked ear and wanted to go get some ear drops but I looked up a home remedy using warm salt water and it worked just as well!. He was so pleased and it saved us a few quid. :) xx

Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

Here are my targets and budgets for November:

    SFDs - 0/25
    Groceries - £102/ 240
    Lunch to work - 2/21
    Declutter - 10/20 items
    Earn - £0.35/80
    Toiletries - £3/£10
    Social - 1/3
    Xmas - £18/£150
    CC £0/£200

Did a huge shop on Saturday, made 14 meals for the freezer and there's another 6 potions of meat/fish in there too. I had 2 slow cookers and all 4 hobs going at the same time!

Found some old bedding and bags in the top of my wardrobe, bagged up for the charity bin at work.

Saturday night was rained off :( but we did have tea out on Friday evening.

Bought xmas pressies for mum n Hubby yesterday.

Had to catch bus into work today and need to buy lunchy food from the market today.

Right off to read the 10 (yes 10!) pages since I posted on Friday morning

ETA: regarding the batch cooking discussion that happened over the weekend - I tend to batch cook to prevent wastage and save time. I bought lots of meat from the butchers and loads of veg and made as many meals as I could. otherwise I end up throwing out soggy carrots or sprouting spuds or I find some mince turning brown hidden away behind something in the fridge. It also means when I get home from work I don't have to cook from scratch, just reheat a meal and cook some pasta/rice if necessary. It also prevents me from thinking, "Ooh, I've not got time to cook, let's have a takeaway" or "I'll just pop to the shop for some mushrooms" and end up buying other items.

    Good morning!

I'm on SFD nr 4 today. Plus I have done my £3 donation to the Trussell Trust.

I'm working this morning, but going home at lunchtime and will sort out the remaining things to take to the charity shop.

Feeling super motivated and on a mission!
