Thanks NSK
And nights/trips/days out...?0 -
Andrar I have edited the post to include this... thanks...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0

Hi all! Seems like all are doing really well! I've clocked up my third SFD, hoorah!!
I have had a lunch with some friends (who are home with babies too) sprung upon me tomorrow. My first thought was "I've nothing in" but a baking session and rummage trough freezer later and I have sorted lunch without buying anything. Really proud of that :j
Like some of the others I will count SFD's as days where I do not spend any money (apart from DD's). This makes this challenge really difficult for me but as today has already shown I could do with being made to be more creative (e.g. make something myself rather than go buy it). I need more kicks up the bum like that! Bring them on people!
I am a bit anxious about making a proper plan for the weeks shopping. I really don't want to be caught out so making and remaking my meal plan.
Happy Sunday everyone! Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

:j:j:jWhoop Whoop!!! I have caught up on all the posts! Phew!!! :j:j:jSo despite all the confusion ( my fault ) I am super impressed at the gusto and determination you Chickadees have shown over the weekend and the beginning of NOvember. Last year I set about with this challenge with the inspiration garnered from Siousxie32 and her comments on "battening down the hatches". I thought a few of you might want to join in! And this 1 year anniversay issue of The NSK (Crazy) Challenges sees 72 people wanting to change their life for the better. I couldn't be more chuffed!...
I like this post from MrsGSR...What I like about these challenges is simplicity, cutting out non necessities and thinking of others in need which is what is important to me anyway. I would rather be sharing food with my friends than frivolous spending and coffee drinking.
So a few words - I am sorry I can't comment on everyone's post right now but rest assured I am watching everyone...Mwah ha ha haaa!
Tennisfanatic - £100 for food. Is this just for you?
Siouxsie32 - SO SO proud of you! 2 months ahead of yourself. That's amazing. Whats the plan of attack for the remaining £20k..??
CowboyMum - when you mentioned a student for the month what do you do? (nosey)
Shyspender - £450 off the CC... AMAZING! I pay debts off at the beginning of the month. This is the only way to live. Well done!!
Eyeswideopen - how long left on maternity leave..?
Fmess - charity car wash is fine for an SFD.
I would prefer though that the £3 is spent on food donations to the local bank or done on line. I know there are other amazing charities that are out there but food is the main aim of this thread.
RosieCheeksBlossom - £464 last year on Christmas.. whats the plan for this year..?
MagicLilly... Congratulation on the new job and massive good lucks being sent for tomorrow and your first day. I will be hanging around don't worry there just might be a different approach on things since I am debt free and have a different aim in life...:)
Pheonix.. I feel your pain in losing a fiver. I have done it before and coulda cried!!!
Anna2825... time for confessions - tell us about your spending habits. If you are so tight with what you are doing already and don't see what else you can change perhaps you could shar why you spend and what your trigger is. Allowing treats now and then "might" be the cure for all out splurges...?
For me today and yesterday were SFD's..I am aiming for another 5 in a row. Enough food to make vegan delights for a good while ( I have noticed a few other veggies raising their heads ) and today I made my own humus.... AMAZING!!!... and my own rosemary&thyme crackers... I am in heaven.
Was aiming for fireworks last night but since my darling friend told me she was pregnant via some ridiculously elongated story I burst into tears so refused to go out as we four ( including her hubby and DS ) stayed in for the night....
A few of you were mentioned being good influences on friends. My friend is also asking about advise as she is packing in work in December for good to be a SAHM..... we can pass on the good news of SFD's to anyone who will listen! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Right enough wittering from me....
P.S - If ANYONE has anything they want to ask please inbox me.. i am hear to help as best I can...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Andrar, me and dh have a joint account so i cant get him to use his money and get myself a sfd. This would make my life soo much easier if i could. Thinks its harder this way and really requires planning. Also if dh pops to the shop i count that as a spendy day. Same as single person i suppose.
Anyway, 2 sfd's under my belt this weekend
3 items listed on e-b4y, really going to try hard for that £80 this month. Paypal is adding up nicely.
Bread is cooking in the machine, soup is cooking on the cooker for tea, nothing else very exciting to report here.
Oh just remembered i was talking to someone last night thats spent £10,000 on her sons for xmas!! !!!!!!!!
It was inheritance, she doesnt work....!! Sorry if i offend anyone but surely thats a ridiculous amount??Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Evening all, short update need to pull together a proper plan, but so far 1 SFD and evening out (wedding yesterday, put spends on room bill, so had to pay that today!) This week is going to be a difficult one, husband is on a training course all week in London, so I have opted to spend week with him as this will save me my 140 mile round trip to work and buy a weekly railcard will be £12.80 instead, however, need to be creative with meals as this of course means that I won't be at home to prepare lunches. Breakfast will be at the hotel, so thats ok and we think we can be creative with evening meals so that hubby can claim them back (order starter and main course and share!)
We will save on electric and bills at home (minimal) and it does save us some mileage on car so that will push next car service to December/January if we are careful with extra miles.0 -

NSK - yes my £100 food budget is for one. I know its more than some people on MSE but its the first month of me counting every penny so was a bit of a guesstimate. Hoping to come in underbudget with some better planning....previously i've done quite well at Ald! on weekly shop and then its the top up bits that have blown budget so hoping SFD's will stop this.0

Hey all...
Today = SFD number 2
Aiming for a thrifty week leading up to me going to Manchester on Thursday, and I'm going to be emptying my food cupboards to take with me to save money at the other end... a proper clear out.
With 2 weeks off I have no excuse not to batch cook stuff. I'm hoping to get into a routine of whilst away, and really hit the gym... leaving my evenings free to catch up with family and friends...
Have a good evening!!!
