Hi Rachel, if you want to do a NSD challenge (like the naught but nice November NSD challenge) where you set your own target there is a separate on on a different thread. Sorry don't want to kick you out or anything but we're slightly extreme as we all aim for 25! NSDs . Have a look at the first post to see how crazy we are here :D

I read the above and thought 'We're really hardcore here!' We don't just go for a gentle jog, we do a marathon-distance-tough-mudder-money-saving! We'll sail/struggle/limp/skip on to the end of NOvember and cross the finish line covered in mud/blood/sweat/tears and with such a massive sense of exhilaration and achievement.

I don't think I've ever described myself as hard-core about anything before! I feel proud to be among a group of people like you lot!

    Thank you one and all!

Humus on the go (red lentil) and food for tonight's shift....I shall be posting more tonight from a work computer as I will have ample time ( she says hopefully ) to catch up on many pages of amazing ruthlessness and determination...:T:T:T

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".
  • Hey all, just cathching up with everyone's posts and reporting in for yesterday. Wasn't a spend free day but on the plus side only spent £2.50 so not too bad. Also had an outing last night but it was a family thing and i really had to go. Think I'll be breaking the outing rule this month cause it's my birthday on Friday and I have a few things on, if the outings are paid for by some-one else do I have to count them?? Today will be a SFD today and home chilling before work this evening, will update signature tomorrow. xx:A

  • Hi everyone

A quick check in before i have to go to work for my evening shift.. yesterday and today have been SFD as i have been at work, however i have been feeling tempted to go to the shop and buy a magazine or paper but i will not waste a spendy day on this until needed so at the minute the challenge seems to be working :)
Just making some tea for work so still not spent a penny on food for work.. think monday may be a spendy day as need to get some food for the food bank i am donating to :)

Well done to everyone on the challenge you are doing great !!!1

Happy Sunday everyone  How are you all today? I know it's only lunchtime, but I'm boldly declaring today as my 3rd SFD! Someone at work was leaving yesterday and I felt obliged to go "for drinks". I went along and spent the next hour chatting, hoping nobody would notice I didn't have a drink. Success, I showed face, didn't spend a penny and sneaked off after an hour, SFD intact :D

Today is another working one for me so I won't be spending any money today either. Tomorrow I'll need to get petrol, but I believe this can also be a SFD as my petrol budget is set and I'll not be buying anything else. Ooh, 4/4 would be fab! I'm busy writing my shopping list as Tuesday will be my first planned spend day and I want to make sure I've got everything I need!

Got a few things ending on ebay tonight (hurrah, one finally has a bid!) and I have enough Swagbuck$ points to cash out £5 so hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to declare some extra income as well.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends :)

    Good Afternoon everyone

Hope you are all enjoying your sunday? NSD #2 for me today woohooo! Hubby said he fancied some cake so instead of going out and buying some (which is normally what he would do) I said I'd bake some. So there are some muffins baking in the oven. Going to take them out in the next few minutes. For tea we are having lamb with potatoes and veg and a bit of gravy.

Tomorrow, Im on a training course all day - lunch is provided so thats taken care of. Feel really empowered by this challenge. It really is making me think in advance which for someone who can be rather impulsive at times is a refreshing change!

Wow everyone is so determined!!! :j

I'm struggling here on two counts: firstly, struggling to set a monthly budget for food. This is because we have money coming in at all different times of the month - salary at end of month, rent every 2 weeks, and expenses claim monthly but not on a given date (depends when they are approved). Its the rent every 2 weeks which we use for 'controllable spends' like food and obviously we were halfway through this at the start of the month  If this sounds complicated then let me assure you that trying to manage it is even more so!!!

So........as I am immersing myself in the spirit of the thread through aiming for 25 SFDs and considering EVERY purchase, I am planning on declaring my 2 weekly food budget and hoping I won't be thrown off the challenge :o

My other issue is DH ;) He is just starting his week off and asked my permission if he could spend £3 for the driving range this morning. The fact I am VERY hormonal at the moment and know just how much he is supporting our debt-busting made me want to burst into tears at the though that he would even ask to spend £3 :o Obviously I said yes, feeling super-happy that he is being so conscious of our spending these days, but that's made it into a non-SFD all for £3!!!!!! AAAAArgh!!!! Gosh this challenge tests you in ways you never could have imagined doesn't it?!!!

After all that waffle - here are the numbers:

    1/25 SFD
    21.79/120 - food (every 2 weeks)
0/30 - outing - planned night away with DH and DS
    15.57/20 - toiletries
    3/10 - miscellaneous

    8/20 decluttering
    0/80 make money challenge

Well actually I think I know it is! I read these forum posts, subscribe to this thread and decided I might join this challenge never having done one before nor even read about one. Ive now read every single post from everyone and I just don't understand what you are supposed to do - apart from the obvious not spend money! I already batch cook for work lunches, and apart from having to pay for car park, (no alternative other than to drive to the station) and fares to London I don't spend during the week or at least not for anything that wouldn't be classified as household shopping. I live alone, don't smoke, am allergic to alcohol and don't really go out too much when its cold and wet! I love being at home and there I think my problems do start - Im an internet shopping junkie!

So in short I don't think I will be able to even start this challenge as I don't see what I can do differently to what I do already. I do need to stop spending though as Im in a bit of trouble and depressed about. I will keep reading all your posts to get inspiration and tips on how and where! Good luck to you all!:T

So another good day! Still not quite sure that it is a sfd as I spent £10.13 at supermarket on childminding food, 63p of which was reduced ice lollies from supermarket (saved DH from buying them at park which was £1.75 each!). No other money spent and still have £9.25 left from budgeted sat spends.:j

V tired from dog sitting overnight and sister/nephew looking after. Going to have a quick nap before doing it all over again!:o
    Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 600
