  • Hi Thriftylass. This was my first attempt at rabbit too. Amazed at how easy it was and how much there was to eat! Not sure about posting links but I used the Hairy Bikers Old Fashioned Rabbit Stew recipe with cider, thyme, carrots and peas. If you google 'Hairy Bikers Old Fashioned Rabbit Stew', it's the first result. I made mine on Saturday then heated it up on Sunday for 45 mins, adding the carrots and peas.

Thanks, but I might have to give that a miss then as it contains peas (the work of the devil according to OH :rotfl: and whenever I give them to DS he thinks he needs rescued, not sure what his issue is). I might have a look at similar recipes though.

Sorry NSK no can't do. I love fluffy bunnies too but also grew up eating rabbit in every variation as my aunt kept them. Just won't tell DS yet. Although yesterday he ate lamb but I don't think it registered what it was, bless him. Cows are really cute too, oh and deer but they are also tasty. Sorry don't want to be mean or anything, i'm all for proper standards of keeping them etc. but I'm an omnivore and enjoy meat, while trying to eat less though.

Not a veggie but little bunnies, hardly any meat on them. Lovely creatures have the best pet bunny ever, so affectionate, cuddles up with my dog and so much fun. Had to switch the Hairy Bikers over when they were cooking rabbit:eek:

  • Sorry if anyone's upset! However, I'm a farmer's daughter so animals never strike me as cute...

Thriftylass, the peas aren't essential. You could omit them and serve with any other green veg on the side.

NSK-can I put my name down for December please? Also, have you written it up yet. I've read through most of the pages, but don't recall seeing it. Thanks.

Thankyou NSK, that means a lot. I had an awful week last week with various stuff going on but amazed I have managed to keep going with this!

I;m back in for December as well. Been trying v hard the past few days, managed a 5 day fiscal fast (kind of... spent £10 on Xmas presents but got a £10 free meal, also topped up O2 phone with £10 to redeem priority moments free drink, the £10 will last ages now).

  • Sorry, NSK, but I feel I've let everyone down with my poor progress.

Nooo! I forbid this! It's your (our) first month and, if you're anything like me, it's a HUGE change to have made - so far you've had 12 days where you've spent nothing at all, nada, zip, nil, NO MONEY! Can you imagine having done that in October?! I can't! I was all "oh, I like that, I'll have that, it's only £1/£2/£3, whatever..." all over the place.

It all makes a difference, whether it's going out or coming in. You have made huge leaps and bounds this month (and having read back on some of the older months, it has been a real NSD challenger of a month!) so be proud of what you've achieved. :T

Get through the next 5 and a half days however you can, take a big deep breath, and start again with December. I'm already a bit worried about how challenging a month it's going to be for not-spending, but if I've learnt anything it's that when I want to wallow in my poorness or just shrug, give up and spend, spend, spend I can come here, read everyone else's perspectives, and feel like I'm part of a team of people all fighting the same battle.

Just keep swimming, take it a day at a time, and feel free to use this space if you need a helping hand :o
