Hi JCD - sounds as though you had a fun and also productive weekend! Good luck with the phone call in a couple of hours!
I just thought of you as I walked back to the office at lunchtime - there was a very beautiful but very dead kingfisher on the grass. I had that fleeting moment of "I should put this in a bag and send to JCD" but there were lots of other people around and I lost my bottle very quickly!!
Right, best get on with some work - good luck this pm xxI really ought to get my backside off this seat and into the hills up past loch lomond and go looking for little gifts from nature.
thanks for the good luck, hon xxDebt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

Hi again Bax, nice to see you
LOL! Palaces? Minions?! If by palaces you mean a one bedroom flat with walls paper thin, and by minions you mean two cats who take great pleasure in barfing on my paperwork or peeing in my best shoes then I'm totally there
Thanks for the giggle! How's you?Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

Had my call from a rather unenthusiastic but very pleasant young Irish lad on behalf of ebay. It was pretty much just a casual chat and he's re booked another call for the 1st of December to see how I'm getting on. I did stress that I don't have my VAT number just yet, it's going to be another month or so before I do (although I'm keeping all relevant paperwork to submit to HMRC as and when I'm ready to do so). He basicly told me there's major no diference between private and business sellers on ebay, the only diference is that business sellers can register a business name and claim back VAT. Oh well.
I've two auctions up at the moment. The large lot isn't doing as well as planned so far, but with eighteen hours to go things may change. It's currently sitting at £390, miles away from the reserve. If or when it meets the reserve then that's another £350 to add to the proffit savings pot. The small lot I have for sale has no watchers and no offers made yet. Should it sell it'll bring in an extra £100 for the proffit savings pot.
That's all from me really. I wish I could refrain from hitting refresh on ebay :rotfl:

Hi there JCD
Can I just say that if I had a business I would give you a job! Your drive to get yourself out of debt shows that you could DO ANYTHING with the proper training!
Talking of which, whilst you are still on benefits, have you asked about free college courses? You might be able to find some ones that are relevant to running a small business, eg book keeping.
Also have a look at www.visiontolearn.co.uk I think it is. You can do free computer training on there, and you do get a bit of paper at the end. The point of this, is if you do go for more job interviews you can say that you are taking the time you are unemployed to update your skills, which I think can only go down well with a prospective employer.
Also have you thought about applying to be an xmas postie? Ok you have to get up early, or very late, but it would be good money between beginning of November and Christmas?
Best of luck
chev
Edited to add. Just to show how interesting and compelling I found your diary, I have spent two hours reading it instead of doing my project. Ooops.......!I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Chev, thanks so much for saying that. It's a real confidence boost. If only I was able to give prospective employers a link to my DFW diary then maybe they'd have understood that what I lack in skill I make up for in determination.

I'll look more into the visiontolearn link, I remember when my mum was unemployed and wanted to do a college course, she had to fight to keep her benefits. They insisted that because the course was full time it was classed as WORK??!! Anyway, after a long battle with the powers that be, and securing a job half way through her course, my mum completed her HND in Accounts and Business Finance. I'm so proud of her

Ooh, that's an idea I'll look into that too. Thanks

Eek! I hope reading and commenting on my diary hasn't set you back too much. Thanks alot ChevI think I prefer the scarey ones though...
I'm all about the cute cat things
You should be so lucky.
So I'm not the only DFW who's had that dream then?
Not taught her to hunt sparrows by now?
She's a house cat. She brings me daddy long legs, spiders and anything else that creeps or freaks me out. She's yet to maul a tax man.

Heh, which brand of special? I'm the 'I lost my loaf of bread and found it in the oven' brand
Three hours and twenty three minuted to go on the big ebay lot, the reserve hasn't been met. *crosses fingers*

The big lot never made it past £750 so didn't sell. B@lls. So, what I need to do now is list the individual items of jewellery I bought and work with that. Again it will be the case that I sell theese items, reclaim the cash from thoose, put any proffit aside and buy another small lot then repeat.
I had an enquiry about the smaller lot I have up for sale at the moment. The person was firstly interested, then came back to me and said she'd need to purchase it at £100 to sell at proffit to meet her 40% increase and ebay fees. Yeah, well, it's not getting sold for that little. Anyhoo, I've got £45 in ebay fees to pay at the end of the month, so I'll need to get to work on this other lot.
To the ebaymoneymakingmasheen!

Yup
Selling some individual items to raise funds for the ebay fees, then everything else will go to paypal/bank then to credit union. I think for now I'll continue selling small lots of items. It just means I'll need to do twice the work to reach my goal of at least £2,000 By December. I'm not afraid of the hard work, never have been, I thrive on challenges and goals
Anyway, in amoungst the jewellery I'll be throwing up some PS2 games aquired when my mum was binning the ex-stepdads stuff .
Righty, There's twelve days untill the end of September. I'm aiming to have £300 sitting in paypal/credit union by then. RARRR got my fighting cap back on!
Cheers m'dearx
