((AnW'sMum)) Oh honey times like this I wish I lived closer, just a thought, if it's been leaking for weeks/months and your parents don't mind would they still watch DS tomorrow so you can have your day with DD then come around or get someone else to come round the day after or on the evening about the dishwasher ? My thinking is, it's been like this for a little while, one more day won't hurt then at least you won't miss your day together. Flylady part of me says 'needs doing asap' but I know I'd be saying 'sorry it can wait'
Oh well my fears weren't reality, they've all gone out, great quiet nighthopefully.
One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks grannynise, solway, lil_me and pigpen I really needed those hugs and vibes. As I was pushing the fridge back in I knocked a fridge magnet that is the poem 'Don't Quit' not sure if you've heard it but it just seems so appropriate at the moment.
Well DD and I watched Casualty and I explained that our trip might be off. She was wonderful and understanding (so wise for 7 yo) said we would try to get out but might not be the full on trip we planned. The lino and floor are drying out as I type, am going to use some bleachy stuff on both to try and get rid of the smell (which is worse now that the air can get directly to it)
Anyway seeing as I didn't eat earlier and I have blocked the cooker in then I will just have to have the couple of scones jam and clotted cream that are left over from yesterday! Silver lining to the cloud
I had a cuddle with DD so that helps, my best friend and neighbour is all smooched up with her new BF so not really ideal gate crashing there! Although if I called she would come round. If I was closer pigpen I would be getting my dancing shoes out and joining youWe are just south of Sheffield so a bit too far away tonight. Have a great time, glad you are feeling better.
Thanks again guys

Wish we could do more to help AnW'sMum. Hope you enjoyed the scones anyway, especially the clotted cream.0

Wishing you luck, AnW's Mum.
I hope everything turns out okay. Fingers crossed that once you have gone through all the absolute stress of trying to work round a kitchen in pieces while DW is getting fixed then it will not be too expensive.
Hugs

Morning all
Well assessing the damage this morning the floor will be ok I still need to bleach it to get rid of the small mould patches. Drying out ok at the mo although the back of the lino looks yukky I'll give it another good scrub. Not sure what to do about the dishwasher tbh as the lower arm came off a while ago (no idea how!) and whilst I don't think that is the cause of this current problem if I was going to get someone out then that would need looking at as well. I have had to switch it off at the wall for the last couple of years as the button on the front has not been working, think it's a micro switch problem but not a reason on it's own to get anyone out.
It's 43 months old (checked money, DH bought it in Nov 2003) so I am thinking now that whilst I hate this throw away attitude to things it may not be cost effective in getting it repaired and would I trust it again.
White goods are not designed to last these days our last washer broke just before it was 3 yrs old, spent £90 getting it repaired for it to break with another problem 5 months later
The silver lining to this cloud? Well I reckon like some of you said that DD and I might get our girly shopping trip as there is not a lot more I can do today whichever option I go with.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
Good morning,
AnW'smum, I think you should go do your girly shopping trip too, sounds as though the DW situation isn't going to get any worse before anyone can come and look at it. I do like your silver lining attitude though. Good lass, have a lovely time with DD!
Well it's dry but I don't know for how long so best get my skates on and do something in the garden. It's disproportionately large for the tiny house and full of mature things that keep growing. The cheek of them! I could really do with someone to come and cut all the hedge bits, but I've no idea what gardening folk charge for one offs. Maybe a question for the green fingered forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome Solwaykid and lil_me and for the heads-up on when the new thread will be. I can't wait yet I don't want to wish my Sunday away!
AnW'sMum I hope whatever you decide that it doesn't cost you too much. A girly day shopping sounds like it will do the trick to lift your spirits! Do you know anywhere that will do you a free quote on repairs (no call out fee) to help you decide? I reckon if your funds run to it a new DW might be the best answer and you should treat yourselves! Either that or get the broken one out of your way and wash dishes the old fashioned way while you save for a new one lolTo be honest I don't have a DW so this is what I do.
I hate it when appliances go up the spout. The trouble with me is because the house is usually in CHAOS (upstairs at least) I don't exactly rush to get workmen out to sort the problems out. I hate that my bathroom is full of clutter, and that I don't keep on top of the vacuuming like I should, I guess I am embarrassed to have anyone in.
I'm a little behind this weekend - not done the kids' uniforms yet. Well, I've done the white shirts my son wears and daughter's PE shirt but not both kids' trousers and sweatshirts. That will be my main goal for the day, to get it all washed and dried despite the damp weather we have been having. At least I am on top of the rest of the laundryIAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
Morning all
One load of washing done, draped round upstairs because it's raining.
Roast is in the oven.
That's about it - I don't have school uniforms to do any more (it's great!)0
