Virgin Media Broadband Faults

What exactly is wrong and what did VM tell you to do which has now caused it?
Initially I telephoned them to check my broadband speed. During the call, I ran out of credit on my mobile, obviously leaving the guy at the other end tinkering with the connection.
I tried to reconnect to the internet (I use a apple mac airport extreme for mac laptop and windows desktop), I couldn't connect, although the laptop and PC were both receiving strong signals from the base station.
I telephoned tech support again who were as useless as a chocolate fireguard. Still can't connect to the internet wirelessly. The only way I can connect is via ethernet through the laptop (my PC hasn't got an ethernet port.0 -
Today I had a call from VM. They have waived the £50 disconnection charge from my account. Finally sorted out, 6 months after my initial complaint.0

Did the Tech support guy get you to do anything on your computers? Access the router config page or alter settings on the computers? It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

They were really no help at all. In the end, I reset the base station, changed passwords ect and managed to get online.
They have credited my account with £15 to cover my call charges. Not gonna totally cover costs but it's a start I guess.0 -
My Virgin Media modem lights are as follows:
Ready: green (solid)
Sync : Green (solid)
Rec : off
Send : off
ethernet: Geen (solid)
USB : off
Power: Green (Solid)
My wireless router(Fonera) is connected to Virgin media modem through ethernet connection.
Everything seems to be fine, but I don't have internet at all.
I can connect to my wireless router(Fonera) consol and change it's settings, but I don't understand why
I don't have internet.
Every now and then the Send light goes green for a second, then the Receive light does the same.
Can someone help?
Thanks.0 -

Have you tried rebooting the modem, unplugging it from the mains? Usually sorts any problems.
I think the IP for the modem is 192.168.100.10 -
once again i've got problems with Virgin Media Broadband, it cost me £12 for a call to them last time & there's no way im going to sit on the phone for nearly an hour to find out they can't do anything till an engineer comes out to resolve it! from previous experance if this happens on a friday you wont get an engenieer out untill monday or tuesday! & thats not good enough..... Also they say they will refund the call charges but i have never received any refunds!
After reading this message :-Virgin Media Broadband Faults
I have posted a message before but thought it would be better to start a thread.
From the 1st of July you will be charged 25p per min plus a 10p connection fee for Virgin Media Faults
These calls can take upto half an hour and more than likely will not resolve the fault
This will cost on average £8.00 for the call for the 30min duration and that is not acceptable.
I now have a broadband expert from virgin who I can contact free of charge to resolve all problems, please dont contact the number and post on this thread and I will resolve the issue for you. I have a direct line to him that wont cost me but I cant post it on the forum, Area location is all I will need and the status of the broadband fault. I have a direct reply going to my email when somebody posts on this thread so all problems will be resolved pronto. Dont give virgin money for problems that they are causing.
I am intrested in what you can do for me! i'm in the nottingham NG9 area & the problem i have is the enet & sync lights on but i have no internet.
I hope you can live up to this post you posted.....***ALL PROBLEMS WILL BE RESOLVED PRONTO***

Also the good news is that from the 1st of June they are scrapping the 25p per min support number.
Yeah, free via 151 from a cable line. However still the rip-off wrongly called local rate number when it should be called lo-call rate, but then still is anything but with today's lower rates to proper numbers.
If only VM could offer a standard 01 or 02 number instead of people searching for one and then it being stopped and then the searching goes on again. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... While Carphone Warehouse were trying to persuade me to move from Virgin Media to them, I mentioned the email problem. No problem she said, you can pay a modes one-off fee and retain your old NTL email address...
Not convinced this is true, perhaps the real truth is you have to keep a dialup account active in lieu. If you do, how do you transfer from Virgin Broadband to Dialup then? If anyone has tried this please announce!devils_advocate wrote: »I want to move from Virgin Media. My problem is that I've had email accounts with them for years, and I rely a lot for repeat business from people who have had my account from some time ago.
Is there any way to set up or get them to set up an auto forward from the blueyonder email accounts to new accounts?0
