Whoop! One day left of practice and then tomorrow it's all guns blazing, rogue coin finding FUN!!! I have always enjoyed finding money (pffft! Who doesn't!?) but since the start of my DF journey, I have never felt such joy at finding a penny - literally! If you would have told me that a penny could make me happy for an afternoon, I'd have thought you were mad! But they feel like little gifts from the universe so I always say thank you and gratefully accept them.
So are you ready?!! You guys are on a rough 17 hour countdown to midnight and then the fun begins....soooooo looking forward to it!!!!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
20p more for me!
Now getting really geeky I've made some observations:
1. Its easier to find coins at night, as their shiny surface (esp silvers) stand out from the dark pavement.
2. There is a brand of cigarettes with a foil strip on the butts, these look like tenners that have been folded in half lengthways and rolled up, really annoying!
3. Chewing gum blobs on the floor have a habit of looking like coins too!0 -
Just 5p for me today from school car park
Looking forward to starting for real tomorrow, and hoping to up my finds! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
My DD2 and I have an annual competition - we each have a tin and any road kill we find goes in there. Over the Christmas hols we empty them out , pool resources and then it goes towards a family outing - meal, cinema etc. She is doing really well - the school playing fields are great picking grounds! We live in a rural location and only venture into the nearest town every now and then - my best finds are usually the £1 coins left in or dropped by supermarket trolleys
( where I womble receipts too and claim the points ) I have picked up a tenner though fluttering on a mountain path
I shall enjoy following this thread.......count me inBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Welcome Igamogam and kangadoo!! Lovely to have you onboard and your Rebel numbers are in post number 8.
So we have had over a week to practise and it sounds like there have been some great results! Whoop! 3 hours from now the challenge starts for real........you will need to keep track of your monthly total for roadkill (and remember that it has to be truly found from an outside source - it cannot be money that is really already yours or your families that has been forgotten in a coat pocket) and you can also keep track of your wombled receipts. Report in here daily with tales of your finds or to take some inspiration. At the end of the month, everyone can post their totals for the month and we will tally up how much money we have reclaimed from the streets as a group. Anyone else think we can hit £100 collectively just in roadkill??? I reckon so........likely more.......very interested to see what we end up with!
Best of luck Rebels! Keep those eyes peeled and lets see who kicks us off with the first find for November (is it wrong that for a moment there I actually considered setting my alarm an hour early.......:D)!!!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Oh dear don't think this will be my best challenge.
Firstly this week has been a bit of a write off, my little man (5months old) has been really poorly so we haven't been out, my mum sat with him and I popped to the shops but no luck. So my practice week has resulted in zero pennies. Booooo.
And because I'm on maternity leave I'm really trying not to go out too much, but will keep my eyes peeled when I do my food shop and Xmas shopping.
Good luck everyone.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

Hey Hok3y, after reading your diary over the last week I am facinated by your roadkill... So much so I have a 'thing' about looking on the floor now :rotfl: Can I join your Rebels? Not sure how much I will find as I shop very little and am tied to my car, however I am in! :j0
