I suggest you make some sandwiches and bung em in the freezer, then add sandwiches in freezer to your "add last minute" list.

CDs / Ipod - songs that HE likes listening to
    Crisps
    Slippers
Clean pants (if he's in the pool, he may appreciate putting some clean ones on)
    2 bags of Haribo
    Tissues/hankies - he WILL cry!

And top tip - if you have packed YOUR hospital bags, give it to OH and allow him to unpack it and repack it. He will be the one rummaging round in it for bits, not you.

Shouldn't Dad be giving the thank you card to his partner after all the efforts of labour?! ;)

I would suggest a pack of paracetemol (for him, or you, as needed).

If he runs hot, a little electric hand-fan. Labour wards are warm.

I second something more than just a book - ipod, ds something similar? If you are there for hours then u may sleep but he may not be able to in which case its something to do to pass the time!
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Yes, but that wasn't the question ;)

Thank you for all the great suggestions, will for sure add painkiller, energy drink, tissues and some flipflops so he doesn't need to walk around in winter boots possibly for days...

Won't be packing a games console as it would get on my nerves if he used it in the delivery room, but will be taking ipod/ipad (those are on my list too).

My OH does not smoke so no cigar.
Will try to freeze a bag of food though, good point that he might not be able to buy any during night.
