I would never have even thought of packing a bag for my husband for the birth, I had a hard enough time packing my own bag, worrying about how many baby clothes to pack and faffing about with food and drink etc etc. Luckily for me, I was only there for a couple of hours before I gave birth so I didn't need half of the stuff anyway. I still forgot the baby wipes though!
Lots of couples pitch up at the hospital with enough luggage for a week away, they are usually the ones who have a nice, quick birth and they don't even get time to unpack their bag before we send them home. Of course, those who have packed a nightie, a babygro and one nappy are those who end up being in there for a week and the poor partner is sent on endless shopping trips to the overpriced hospital shops!
Hope the birth goes well OP!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
My OH's 'hospital bag' consisted of a spare pair of pants, a t-shirt and a can of deodorant chucked into the bag I took.
In the case of my daughter, he didn't get to use any of the above as she shot out in record time!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

The only bag my friend packed for her OH was the one he needed to stay at his mum's and keep out of the way..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

If the woman has to be at the gruesome bit, why should the man get to escape it? :rotfl:Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I'm astounded at the answers on this thread. I had my girls over 30 years ago. My husband was one of the totally useless type, but he managed to fend for himself for the 12 hours/half an hour times I was in labour. I was then in hospital for 48 hours with both of them. He came to visit for around an hour at a time. He had no need of any bag of any sort.
Do men stay in with the women now? If not, it sort of smacks to me like sending a child to school on his first day.....0 -
I think the same as Caroline, it would never have occurred to me to do this..
People worrying about the expectant father getting 'neck ache' sitting in an uncomfortable chair! OH diddums... I think the OP is going to have slightly more pain than neck ache to worry about..
Op you do realise (if everything goes ok fingers crossed) that you will be out of the hospital within around 12 hours? and you are married to a grown up, I assume? If you behave like this NOW, you are going to have TWO babies on your hands...just saying..The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
Most husbands are booted out shortly after the birth, so I wouldn't have thought they would need anything packing at all. I certainly didn't pack anything specifically for him, although I said he could help himself to my Jaffa Cakes if he wanted...0
