Yes, I've liked the Focus.
Can't say I want the new car to do anything different.
Given where I live (way up in the hills) a 4X4 would be ideal, but I don't think I could stretch to one.
I've just found a local(ish) dealer, with a 56 plate Mondeo 2.0TDCi 115 Zetec [Euro 4] (78,000 miles), for £3.5k.
I'll pop along tomorrow and take a look.
That is a very expensive Mondeo.
You might be better served by buying newer and putting a bit on finance.

There must be a car supermarket near you that is full of similar ex lease cars.
Motorpoint or maybe Carshop.
You mention ex Police cars. Be very choosy. Run of the mill patrol cars get a hard life so best to stick with cars used by traffic though these will likely be performance orientated and have done around the 50k a year mark though they are maintained well.
You can find cheap ex NHS response cars at Mertyr Motor Auction. Stick with the destickered oness. They had a load of Vectra estate and Astra estate there a few weeks ago they also had some reasonable 57 plate CR-V in the later shape.
All of those were silver.
An example

White mk2 Focus with the solid old 1.8 lump.
There was a lowish miler Astra that must have been an officers car as it was mint inside and out.
All ex Police and Ambulance vehicles will have worn interiors. Easily fixed with some leather seats from eBay.0 -
Apparently the reserve on the CR-Vs is around the £2-2.5 k mark0

I was thinking the same. Unless the extra size of a Mondeo is wanted this would seem a better option.0 -

Just found a 2007 Ford Focus 1.8 LX TDCI DIESEL 5DR, 115bhp, with 91k on the clock, for £3,767.
Also, a 2005 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi Sport [Euro 4], 115bhp, with 87k on the clock, for £3,790.
With them being diesels, I'm not sure the slightly higher annual mileage on the first one, really makes much difference.0 -
Bedsit Bob are you laid up in your bedsit with a broken leg or something playing Autotrader spin the bottle? The range of cars, which you appear to have no knowledge or experience of, that you are bouncing between like a demented pinball, seem entirely unconnected with your needs and are only linked by cost and proximity. What don't you like about your Focus or what would you like it to do better?0

As I said earlier, it's not that I don't like my Focus.
It's just that it's getting to the age, where I'm starting to have to do bits to it on a regular basis, so I'm looking to upgrade to a newer vehicle.0 -

The service history is more important to compare the two tbh. Any Zetecs about at that price range as I've never been a fan of the mk2 sport trim such a disappointment compared to the mk1 sport tdci.
Just alloys and aircon from what I recall.0 -
Well, the 2005 one says FSH and recent timing belt.
The 2007 one just says Service History.
On the other hand, the 2007 one says "HPI Checked Car Data Checked", whereas, the 2005 one doesn't mention an HPI or Car Data check, so I'm guessing I'd have to HPI check it myself.
What does an HPI check cost?0
