Tree and decorations up on 24 December and down on 1 January and then only if my grandchildren are visiting. I have never understood the fuss about Christmas. I have no problems with the day itself but it is the extension over weeks that really annoys me.
  • As it is a real one I usually put it up two weeks before Xmas so it can settle in, tho it's nice to see it up early :D

I live on my own and don't have a tree or decorations. Seems a bit pointless.
  • The Sunday before Christmas.
My daughter's birthday is at the beginning of December so don't put up any decorations at least until the 17th

We put a little pre-decorated desk tree up on the 4th December as that is the date we started going out. It is handy as all we need to do is plug it in and switch it on. We used to put up a big Christmas tree as well as decorating the outside of the house but that was when we were both working.

Last year my aunt, who lived on her own, said she had no Christmas decorations so before Christmas we bought her an electrical Christmas scene which had a tree, lights, etc on it. When we gave it to her she said it was the only decoration she had and she enjoyed watching it, little did we know that she would pass on 30th May this year. She had two sons and they gave it back to us after she passed so we may light it this Christmas, I don't know at the moment I just can't think of her not being here this Christmas because she always spent Christmas at my parents with us, my Gran (her mother) and my siblings and their families were always there too.
  • 1) I live on my own and have no young family so haven't put up a tree in years.
    2) Plus my birthday is exactly 2 weeks before Christmas so I allow a week to display all my cards then take then down, dust, and put up Christmas cards and fairy lights in the window. (As soon as I put up my first birthday card all my neighbours start delivering their Christmas cards. LOL!)

We put ours up on the 1st December ish so that we have enough time to celebrate Christmas. We usually invite people to come and visit us in the 1st week of December to make us do this. If we don't invite anyone we don't get around to putting up the decs and then its another year gone! We love the lights etc and the reason to make people visit and get together. Our lives, as with so many people, just get too busy otherwise :o)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I love Christmas and so we put our decorations up during the first weekend in December.

The Christmas play list comes out for music in the car as well.

I've just bought some outdoor lights for the first time this year and can't wait to put those up.

I'm one of those people that loves looking at all the lights on people's houses... bring it on :D.
    :hello:

In the past it has varied wildly from the 1st to the 21st. This year we're going away for a few days early December so it'll probably be the 15th before we get chance. It always comes down 1st Jan, I don't like it lingering on.

Oh and I can't bear keeping the tree up for weeks after Xmas!! 2 days after Boxing Day and its usually packed back up into the box! Definitely couldn't keep it up past new year.
