    Hello

I have been an avid reader of this thread for a few days now. I am completely sold to the N95, and its what I want.

I am with 02, currently due for renewal. I get 500 mins and 500 texts p/m for £25 (is £35 but did a retention deal last year)

So I rung networks asking what they would do. O2 is a no go for me, and its between Orange and Vodafone. Actually probably Vodafone.

It is £35 p/m, free phone and 500 mins 1000 texts a month, which I need (Or at least I need more texts than 500 as I keep going over). With 512MB memory card and car charger. I want the internet every month for £7.50.

Now my only problem is, I can't haggle. I am useless at it. I hate asking for things, I feel so bad. Does anyone have any tips for a haggle virgin? I just want it to end up costing £35 a month WITH internet (So maybe half price for a few months) but feel so bad asking.

Noone told me it would invalidate the warranty and I really can't see that being the case. The guy who told you that was probably the same on who was telling people its costs £9 for a 2 mile journey to use the GPS/Maps!

The information I have had from a Vodafone employee (but not via their phone support) is that it will not invalidate the warranty, not least because Vodaphone will unlock it for free for you themselves after 12 months (if not earlier, as Peter has shown).

Also, if you read the Nokia warranty information in your N95 user manual there is a section that states that not only is it possible the Nokia will need your phone unlocked when it goes for a warranty repair, they TELL you to contact your network and have it done before you send the phone for repair.

I'm paraphrasing, but you can read it for yourself in the manual.

Interestingly, however, my contact DID say that you are invalidating the warranty if you flash the firmware and debrand the handset, the reason being that it is no longer exactly the same phone that they supplied.

I don't doubt that is indded the official line, but it seems like dodgy reasoning. Surely if you install any software onto the phone you are technically changing it? You are still using official Nokia software. Nothing dodgy or anything.

I guess it may mean you would need to go straight to Nokia for warranty repairs instead of going through Vodafone, should you debrand and update the software and the phone subsequently conks out.

after being on the phone for over 1 hr with cpw they offered me on orange nokia n95 ( new) £40.00 a month 500 x net work mins unlimited txt's on a 12 month contract.
i did offer to move my partner contract over aswell if they give me a good deal not sure if this helped the outcome.

i feel i have a great deal so keep pushing them

My understanding is that your not meant to flash the firmware but I can't see them rejecting a repair or even taking much notice. If they do then moan just deny all knowledge. This post will self destruct in 5 seconds.

The newer types of batteries should not be "run down" before being charged...they don't suffer the "memory" problems of NiCd batteries..in fact they benefit from regular charging and not being allowed to be fully discharged.

To those who have debranded Voda - is 121 (voicemail) still working for you? Mine doesn't:-( I don't use voicemail - only want to disable it.

Also, check my account online, I got "6MHP10%LR50%EM" as part of my price plan. That seems to indicate "6 months half line rental", although when I phoned up, they confirmed I am on "15 months" - a bit confusing. What do others on this deal get?

I got a "welcome" letter this morning from Vodafone confirming the price plan " Anytime 300 half price for the first 6 months + 10% off line rental with Vodafone Passport"

Did anyone else get such a letter?

Will be on the phone straight away...
