I'm a little unsure of what to expect/do this year as it will be the first Halloween in this house. There are lots of kiddies around here (often have about 15 of them playing outside the house, bless em!).

Part of me wants to turn off lights and sit through the back - mainly because every time someone comes to the door I have to grab pup so she doesn't run out when I open it. Another part of me thinks 'why should I give sweets to the children around here when their parents don't even acknowledge me in the street!'

The rest of me thinks that's just mean, so I've stocked up on sweets :rotfl: Thought about just putting them outside so they can help themselves, but you bet your life they'll be that one child that just takes the lot

I might stick a note on the door saying no trick or treaters after say 7pm, so at least the little ones have a chance. I do like to see the young ones dressed up :)
Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass :)
  • The best thing about those who have their purses emptied by the emporiums in the festival of evil and hate, is the cakes are rather cheap for my birthday, just few days later!

I think I need to move!

Our corner shop has put a sign up saying they're not selling eggs or flour to under 18s until after 31st October. Doesn't stop the little darlings taking them out of the cupboards/fridge though!

I used to work in a supermarket whilst at school and age restricted products like alcohol would come up with a prompt on the till alerting you to check the customer's ID. Around Halloween, eggs and flour used to trigger an age alert and we weren't meant to sell them to anyone under 18.

This was about 10 years ago, not sure if it still happens!
  • To everyone saying that getting your house egged or floured isn't such a big deal and it can wash off.

Please stop and think: if you're indoors, and you hear something hitting your door or window (even if it turns out to be egg or flour) is still frightening, and it's still vandalism / criminal damage and, therefore, illegal.

and those who come like beggars, demanding money with menaces, please remember, you do not have any right of access across my land. This includes the path from the kerb to the door.

I live in a rough area too but get a load of sweets, crisps etc in for the kids and never have any trouble.

I just smile, say "Ooh, you look scary," and give them something and everyone's happy.

Good grief please tell me this is a WUM

And as for your second post well people do have right of access here :D

Must be awful to be so miserable. People in these dreadful areas I can understand being frightened but just to be so nasty and full of hate is bad for you Blackbeard. Deep breath and a cup of tea for you I think :rotfl:
  • I'm going to be taping my door knocker and letter box, turning the lights off and retreating upstairs.

And woebetide any dumb donkey who tries to trick and treat me then: they'll just get ignored :)
