we miss alot of the trick-or-treaters/penny-for-the-guy/carol-singers as we live on an estate which is abit stand alone.
Also we tend to be out for most of the evening as we're walking the dog
tbh this is one time when it could rain from now until Christmas and I wouldn't complain2014 Target;

I absolutely love horror and the idea of Halloween, and if I lived in a decent area I can see myself getting really into trick or treating!0

We love Halloween and fortunately live in a good area but have on occasion had a problem with naughty teenagers. I would still do it for the little ones though as they are so sweet.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one planning to hide this Halloween! For similar reasons that have already been posted. I can't live in the back of my house and don't have thick curtains but I'll stick to minimal lighting, turn the door bell off and tape up the letter box.0

Sweeties bought, will get tangerines and monkey nuts for the bags on Monday.
Can't wait to see the wee souls all dressed up and having fun.
Ps one comment on "light parties" - truly tragic, loosen up and let your kids have fun!0 -
Luckily they're generally ok this way!! Usually small groups of young kids with a parent in tow to keep an eye on them, our usual neighbours kids who we know and then a few groups from the conjoining cul-de-sacs. Last year I opened the door to one teenage group of girls who were dressed up to be fair - I think they got embarrassed tho when they saw me as I'm 26 and I think they thought I found them hilarious
but I doled out some lollies and they went on their way giggling. Never had eggs or flowers luckily.

Sadly I think there may be some basis for the scare stories, years ago I remember one nasty old devil putting chilli powder on lollys,
he bragged that it was his trick.
a photo was going round on facebook of someone making chocolate onions... so that kids would bite in to their chocolate 'apples' cruel but a bit funny too... I wouldn't do it of course !!0 -
I am a bah humbug... But I leave a little box outside the door with a few goodies in.
Never answer the door. But check from upstairs if little box is empty.
When it is, I re fill, looking up and down for sprogs first!
Do that twice.
No more.
And am satisfied I have not been the neighbour from Hell!
Few kids on this road, so I'd say they are watching for nanny McPhee to fill her box!0 -
We have a sticker on the door saying we don't buy at the door and we are not interested in religion etc. As we live off the beaten track we rarely get trick or treaters..my sister has 2 little ones who she brings dressed up just to family by arrangement I will buy some sweets for them but I don't respond to anyone begging on my doorstep.0

Light parties are full of fun, you can have fun wihile eliminating what for many are the negative connotations of halloween.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
