It's cold ham, piccalilli, chutney, pork pies, liver pate, mini scotch eggs, cheddar cheese, mixed green salad and a mix of yellow and red cherry tomatoes, every time for me.
Either with cracker biscuits, water biscuits or slices ofwholewheat bread and butter.
Deffo strawberries for dessert, a la eton mess with crushed meringues and cream.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Banana sandwiches - on white bread with butter of course.
Du pain du vin du Boursin......
    Hard boiled eggs.
Tomato sandwiches, the soggier the better.

When my kids were small and we used to go on picnics, I'd take a french loaf, a pack of babybels, a pack of soft cheese, bag of grapes, packet of crisps each and a drink each. No preparation needed, easy to carry, no lugging of plastic containers and coolboxes. It was great!

I like this idea for being quick and easy and no preparation.

I watched a programme once, I think they were having a French picnic with french bread, salami and brie/other soft cheese, with a bottle of wine for the adults. Would be lovely finished with strawberries or other fresh fruit.

If you have eggs you could do a flan with some frozen veg and cheese - nice and colourful or perhaps a frittata using up some potatoes veg and cheese?
Another idea might be to make a dip for the carrots using the soft cheese?

Have fun and hope the weather holds.....

i do have eggs, i wonder if my kids would eat it cold tho, i have a cheese dip for carrot sticks and crisps already, i would really love an m&S honey and mustard pasta salad but thats not gonna happen, and i've no peppers or chicken to put in it :(

we're off to the aqurium first so should be a good day, even if it rains we can eat inside so not too bad :)
