Pizza swirls freeze beautifully. Bread dough (either from packet or made in B/M), rolled into a rectangle and topped like a pizza, ie/ whatever is in fridge. Roll up like a swiss roll then cut into discs, baked for about 20 mins at G6. When cooled, I wrap them individually and freeze.0

I make banana bread and freeze in slices so there's always some to hand, i buy ys sausage rolls, cocktail sausages or scotch eggs and put these in the freezer too.
Then i pack some fresh fruit or if it's coming up to shopping day i'll take raisins and carrot sticks (i always have these in).
Sandwiches (made with whatever we have in) or packets of flavoured cous cous are quick to make up and are nice cold. Approved foods sell these packs very cheaply. Or if there are any suitable leftovers eg pasta, fritatta, pizza etc
Drink is always water, better for you and less mess if it leaks or spills.

Freeze sandwiches - simple ham, chicken or cheese - no tomatoes or cucumber in them! They keep the cool box cool and, if you take them out in the morning, they are defrosted by lunchtime.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

I find the part baked baguettes are nice for a change and are quite large. For the 3 of us we generally have 2 of the baguettes with ham/chicken/cheese or tuna salad, then a couple of bags of crisps, small pork pie, large sausage roll and maybe some salad with a bottle of water and flask of coffee. To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0

My OH's 30th is coming up and some of his friends approached me about doing some sort of surprise celebration for him. I decided on a picnic in one of the lovely parks Manchester has as we are all watching the pennies. So far I have thought of making some sort of cake, a pasta salad and sandwiches to bring for us to eat. Has anyone got any other recipes of veggie friendly picnic food to bring?0

Crudites with houmous
Falafel burgers? You could make up the falafel and bake in burger shapes and then put in the buns when you get there and serve with salsa and salad.
Quiche - whatever fillings you like.
Rice salad (although you have pasta salad)
That's all I can think of now! Hope that helpsWeight 21/08/12 - 11st 4lb  Target of 10st....

I do actually have a tin of chickpeas and some tahini so home made hummus is now on the list, I also like the falafel idea.0 -
Quiche, delia has a some veggie picnic pies a bit like pork pies, cheese board and crackers with nice chutney, muffeletta (big loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with roast veg/ pesto/ cheese), olives, dips (humous, salsa, red bean did, sour cream and herb, beetroot, lentil) and crudites, veg terrine or lentil loaf cut in slices
Salads to numerous to mention - coleslaw, wardolf, asian slaw, noodle salad, beetroot and orange, green salad, bean salad, tomato and mozarella salad....People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
