No need to look for a hidden agenda, phrases likeOn this board, I'm happy to read the message as written rather than look for a hidden agenda.
...but maybe, that's just me.
and'Some may suggest that you should have educated yourself to a higher standard'
Are self evident. The forum has plenty of Hyacinth Bucket clones, I just like to point them out'strived more and worked harder. Because hard working families get on in life and don't sponge orf the state.'

Before your OH started work you were receiving CB, CTC, WTC, CA, HB and CT reduction, DLA and you were working part time.
Were you getting full HB and CT reduction? I suspect not. Therefore that might mean that you are taking your having to pay all your rent now when previously you paid part of it? Ditto with CT.
Hope you are with me!
Write down what you used to get and then write down what you are getting now. Don't forget to use the same amount of money for your earnings each time.
There are very few circumstances where being on benefits makes you better off. Yes, if you take travelling to work etc into account it will seem so but generally you are better off in work.
Would be interested to see your figures.
Thats absolute total utter rubbish.
I know some people who have nothing wrong wrong with them, who lie and get high level DLA,and also ESA,Housing,Benefit and Council Tax benefit, plus a free bus pass etc.
When totalled up it worked out at about a grand and a half per month.
Theres no way on the earth, they would be able to get a £25,000 per year job, with no training, qualifications or experience.
Im not saying that everyone on DLA is a liar or milking the system.0 -

Oh dear! When will some get it right? DLA is available to claimants that WORK as well as those that DON'T, get the picture?
prove it.I know some people who have nothing wrong wrong with them,
Prove it.who lie0 -
you were very fortunate to have the life you had thanks to tax payers and now that you can offer that life to another family on benefits.
Errrrm..... many people who work still have "that life" "on benefits" too. What do people think they are asking for when they apply for Tax Credits every year and have to declare their income? And then get more given to them if their income drops or less (or Tax Credits stop) if their household income rises? Job Seekers Allowance and Tax Credits, are both income based welfare payments.
Tax Credits are a welfare payment that was only invented a decade ago as "a vote winner" as Blair called them; a way to attract more Labour voters: even though the country could never afford them. Tax Credits quickly became the UK's 3rd most costly, welfare state bill.
OP, you are better off working in the long run as Tax Credits are 2 of the income based welfare payments that are being replaced by Universal Credit as part of the 'getting benefits back to what they were' (reversing the trend of the past decade). UC will have conditions for those able bodied adults that aren't doing more to support themselves and their families.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

by benefits I mean the dole....
What on earth made you made you think that Tax Credits aren't benefits???
Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits are also 2 of the benefits listed under "public funds" (along with with other benefits i.e. income based JSA) on the UK Border Agency site. Those on visas (non-EU citizens) have to be legally in the UK for at least 5 years before they can ask for those "public funds" as they are "not allowed to be a burden to the UK" when they arrive in the country.

blown out of proportion yet again. I meant that we aren't one of those families who rely solely on state benefits/free school meals/free dental/precriptions etc..... yes some cases are genuine, however there are millions of people who choose not to work because they rely solely on the state ...MissMoneypenny wrote: »What on earth made you made you think that Tax Credits aren't benefits???

UC has a long way to go before it leaves the runway, if it ever flies at all. Robert Devereux is due to have his career obliterated because he is currently carrying the can for the utter shambles that UC is. As usual the seemingly Teflon coated IDS has delegated blame, and ducked responsibility. However, his time will come.income based welfare payments that are being replaced by Universal Credit as part of the 'getting benefits back to what they were' (reversing the trend of the past decade). UC will have conditions for those able bodied adults that aren't doing more to support themselves and their families.
The PCS union is getting just a tad worried at the prospect of up to 40% of its own members falling foul of conditionality under UC.
I bet that will make for fun times in JCP and DWP offices when staff are sanctioned by their own colleagues for not working enough hours or finding better paid work. Never mind, what goes around comes around as the saying goes, some of those who were so eager to sanction the unemployed can have a taste of what it's like.
That's if UC makes it off the ground of course.
Perhaps the hard working taxpayers might want to ponder on the £303 million that's been spent so far on the IT system for UC, £34 million of which has been written off already. If the IT system cant be re-worked it will be scrapped, so back to the drawing board and wasting the whole £303 million or more along the way.
The government is spending money like confetti on UC to satisfy one mans ideology, it's train wreck legislation.0 -
I'm all for setting a good example to our children, but when my son comes in from school and says that his friend got a brand new Xbox at the weekend coz his broke and his parents don't work... I think where is the justice in that ? We both work and couldn't afford to go and do that
makes me so mad.
I only say, well done for both having jobs again.
That kid that got the new xbox from his parents that don't work? I doubt they could "afford" it. They might have bought it with credit etc . And yes it's not fair that he just gets a new one but also what does that teach the child, just buy a new one with borrowed money rather than wait and save for a special occasion. We both work with decent wages and we couldn't do that either, nor would we.finally tea total but in still in (more) debt (Oct 25 CC £1800, loan £6453, mortgage £59,924/158,000)0 -
No need to look for a hidden agenda,
You asserted that FBaby had implied something by her post when you wrote...My problem is with self righteous people with superior attitudes disguising derision as praise.
I've not tried to justify comments from other posters.

I had to 'wiki' Ms Bucket....I don't watch it

I do not believe in people taking benefits they do not need. The system should be there to help when you need it most and MSE is full of people using , abusing and benefit bashing.
The problem is not the people who claim instead the system that allows them too. There are also problem at the other end as well where big companies can get away without paying tax's which would ultimately help us all.
I remember reading a post no so long ago sorry can not find it now but it went something along the lines of .....
The for the grace of god... it is honour to be fortunate enough to help those when they need it and a privilege to know that when and if I need it it will be there.
P.s good on you OP you have not given up and you are doing everything you can. Benefits should surely be there to help you.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0
