While the sofa I bought nearly two years ago is nice, the plumpiness of the cushions doesn't seem to last
However the biggest grips is their monopoly and the way they run the business.
1) No ordering online.
Despite the man in the store (who seemed drunk!) saying you can order online, I corrected him by saying I could get a phone number to order it over the phone. That's not ordering online.
2) If you order over the phone, you can only pay the 10% deposit, the rest must be given to the driver. That means for a simple footstool, I have to pay £50 delivery.
Why can I not order over the phone to have it delivered to the store?
3) No Twitter account to get quick answers / responses.
4) They encourage you to take interest free credit.
I don't see why. You pay it all off in the time frame and you owe them nothing. Surely they would want all the money in their bank account now?
5) Ordering in the store takes far too long.
I spoke to a guy and said "I know what I want, in what colour, let's order". He fumbled about for a while with the tablet type thing, then wandered off to ask a colleague how to put the free delivery on (as I was having it delivered to the store).
I should have been able to order it in less than 5 mins and be away.
It's a load of rubbish really.
They don't offer any worthwhile discounts, they are always having some sort of sale, despite them telling customers they only have two a year.
I had to buy from them. A sofa in SCS was like sitting on straw. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with the sofa but many little things do frustrate me.

nothing to say they have to have a twitter account0 -
What was the point of this thread......You say he seemed drunk did he smell of alcohol or just maybe he had a disability or perhaps he had only just joined DFS and is still learning ....oh dear you cant directly order via the internet no different than picking up the phone and using the freephone number, whats the problem of paying 10% then the balance on delivery.
3 no twitter account...oh dear they don't have to have one.
Maybe if you had a waited a few more minutes he would of found the free delivery code.
However reading into your post you probably are a person with no patience and want everything done yesterday.0 -

OP, I have bought sofas from DFS. I knew what I wanted and how I wanted to pay for it when I went in. The transaction was done quickly and smoothly and I was happy to pay the driver on delivery because I could check for defects before I parted with my cash.
DFS have since emailed me asking me how they performed. There is nothing to stop you from emailing them with your concerns and ideas.
Finally, yes, I am very happy with my DFS sofa and the service, and I had to make a claim on my extra cover as my dog managed to wipe her mouth along the bottom of the sofa which caused a stain. It was all dealt with quickly and efficiently. I must be in a minority as I have received excellent service from DFS.:T0 -
Some people just want the moon on a stick.
Being a consumer gives me, what I like to call, 'choice'. This is how it works; if walk into a shop and I don't like, say, their range of hoovers, I, as a consumer, can perform the smartest about turn of my life, walk straight out of the door and try elsewhere.
Brilliant, isn't it? I really hope it catches on.0 -

A very similar one at SCS was as hard as straw when I sat on it.
I didn't see the sofa in a similar style elsewhere that wasn't thousands of pounds. You paid £50 to get a stool delivered!!
No I didn't. It's being delivered FREE to the store.earthstorm wrote: »no your not, lets take the simple Faculty Storage Footstool at £149 at 10% deposit is £14.90 with the remaining £134.10 paid to the driver.earthstorm wrote: »nothing to say they have to have a twitter account
No mention on their website.
If you find them, be a darling and post the link /scarcasmbigbulldog wrote: »What was the point of this thread......You say he seemed drunk did he smell of alcohol or just maybe he had a disability or perhaps he had only just joined DFS and is still learning ....oh dear you cant directly order via the internet.

2: Sales man didn't seem bothered. The fact someone more senior had to call him out the office to service me was a good indicator of this.
3: Every large company I know and use has a facility to order over the internet. Even a butchers! It's sort of expected these days surely? Dixons realised this and their high street stores died because of it. Online shopping will kill the high street no matter how much people try and stop it. So yes, it is expected to be able to order something like a sofa online. After all, SCS you can order online. Yes, I agree for a sofa of course you would want to sit on it and check it out properly but I just want choice... the choice to order online.
4: I did say to the first lady I was in a rush and could it be done in less than 10 mins. She said yes because I didn't need all the sales pitch, I knew what I wanted in what colour and even the order codes.
I expect people to keep to their word (IE, they could do it in less than 10 mins). If that's a crime, call me a criminal!

On the whole they are okay.
It was just a number of small annoyances which have caused a larger problem. Then of course, like most people, you start seeing problems everywhere.
Went back today and ordered the footstool.
I wasn't in so much of a rush but the 20 mins to order a simple footstool was quite a lot. The guy I spoke to was surprised you couldn't order wholly online. If you could, it would have been done and dusted in 5 mins.
Obviously the people who check out the rant boards aren't used to... erm... rants?0
