thanks simon for doin the calculation, I hope it is their mistake and she gets all the money as stated in the letter and from the follow up call. The lady on the phone was suprised to but said to mum 'better late than nevere' so it is correct. they told mum it should be with her in two weeks from the the 17th october.

not yet sandra, letter date was dated the 17th october, so it would take at least 3 weeks, which is this thursday. so fingers cross mum gets a letter with calcuation etc. thanks0

Ah, sorry, I thought it was 2 weeks. Still, not long to go, and I hope she gets everything due to her. I know that the DWP and the Council aren't the same thing, but when I found out on here that I could get 25% Council Tax discount, as my DH has Alzheimers, it was backdated to 2006/7, which was when he was first diagnosed with dementia. :j
Fortunately, I had kept the letter sent by the psychogeriatrician, confirming this, and I enclosed a copy with the form which the GP had completed, and the refund was made to my bank within a couple of weeks. Good Luck!

just spoken to mum, dla in blackpool confirmed it is ten years back pay- wow and also she will be paid at ten different rates one rate for each year,starting from £15.15 in 2003 to £21.15 in 2013. very shocked
That's a great result and a very rare one!
It may be, and it's impossible to calculate on here, that she should have been entitled to other things ( had she been receiving it), and it might be worth your while to try and find a local welfare rights advisor, who could look at your mum's case properly and check to see if she is entitled to any other 'arrears of payment'. As this was obviously a major foul up by the DWP, hopefully, they can calculate anything else she might be owed.
