Hi
Well never done this before so be nice! But I subscribed to the thread last month and it was quite useful. So my monthly average is apparently £128 but I've been spending up to £400 at times.
So, er, I guess I should see where £240 gets me and go from there?0 -

Welcome to the challenge. I think £240 would be a good starting point as you seem to be spending varying amounts. I started this challenge because although there are only 2 of us we were spending far more than we could afford. We are now very comfortable on £250 and even had a good carry-over from last month towards christmas stuff.
Had a small shop today of £2 on fruit & veg from market; £1 on mushrooms from Mr T and 99p on a bottle of soy sauce from the 99p shop and a few bits from Ald! for £1.79, so a total of £5.78.
Spent far more than that overall though as have also been spending some money from the Christmas budget on a few stocking fillers and presents for a couple of friends (we only buy for our 2 closest friends now).

Don't worry to much on your start figure, as long as your comfortable with it. It is probably easier to pick a bigger amount and cut it down gradually than try to stretch yourself too far to soon. This is my second month and I'm still learning how to curb my old spending habits. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!
