In a further attempt to get my spending under check and myself organised I was looking at diaries for 2014. I found a lovely one in Smiths that gave a week's view on one page, space for a meal plan and a tear-off shopping list. It was lovely - then I looked at the price - £13.49!

B*gger that! It may not be pretty but I've sorted out a note book and done the same thing. Divided the page into three columns (day, meal and shopping) and into seven rows (days of the week). Planned the meals - wrote a corresponding list of ingredients not in my cupboard/freezer - and tore off the third column as a shopping list.

£13.49 saved and some organisation injected into my chaos.

PS: Ding! is something from the freezer that will be microwaved
    ;)
And the dates are a day out - I've not quite escaped chaos!

HEEEY !! That looks a good idea - and you've saved yourself some pennies too ;)
Small spend of £2.80 on pudding rice and evap to make rice puddings - unfortunately we were in B**ths and not near another s/m as sure could have got evap cheaper in H Bags - but it is not something we buy on a regular basis so not sure if it was expensive or not! Looking forward to trying the slow cooker recipe tomorrow. Signature updated and now trying to stay out of shops, except for milk, until Friday.

Hi - you didn't say what you paid for the evap but can get Mr T own or sometimes cheap at Li*l or Al*i

Just popped in to have a browse and catch-up as I don't move over until tomorrow. I MUST go shopping - what a bad start to the month - as DS has practically cleared the fridge and eaten all the sliced bread :rotfl:

Hope you all have a great Sunday

    Hello

Please may I join in the challenge too? We're supposed to only pay £240 for food as that's what I budget to come out of the joint account but I know I pay extra as does oh so this has to stop. Luckily we're having xmas at rellies so no extra money there. So can I put down £260 and see if I can actually stick to it? (Its for 2 adults and a LO)

    Yesterday's spends:

£4.30 on WW bars at my meeting. That should be me kept in cereal bars until the next month's budget though.

£13.22 in Morrisons on random things we were needing such as binbags, kitchen roll, tissues (bl**dy winter!) and on stocking up Mr Mooo for me being away for three days with work this week, so pizza and whatnot ;) He would starve without me cooking I think.

£2.10 in A$da on milk, and some good whoopsies - WW mousse for 32p rather than £1.25 and 39p rather than £1.85 for filled pasta. I've thrown them in the freezer as they're good for quick meals when I can't be bothered with "proper" cooking :D

I am waiting for some things to be applied to my account, but by my reckoning I have £186.38 left of my £270 budget and 17 days till payday.
  • Can I sign up for £150 please? Should be more than sufficient as I will go home for Christmas halfway through the month, but need to budget for picking bits and pieces of groceries up when at home.

Good afternoon all! Feel like I have been gone ages, page 11 already and I just declared on the November thread although I got paid last Wednesday I ignored it so am starting today until the 31st to stretch it just a little bit more.
Cupboards and freezer looking a bit sad so will need a decent shop this week, am planning on using the second purse with cash to see how that works, off to sort out the menu plan and shopping list, dhal for lunches already made. just hope the SM is not like a scrum.
    Have a lovely afternoon all

  • Hi, may I join you for December, there is only my DH and I but I have been thinking and realised we are eating rubbish and I've no idea how much we are spending on food.
I'll hazard a guess at £200 for December but expect it to be less as we are away for Christmas and both work away from home several times a month.
Anyhow sorry for my ramblings - hope everyone has a great December.

First spends for December - £65 at Aldi (DH went, he's quite good at ignoring all the extra stuff that's there.

Also paid £3.50 for steak pie for Friday treat and £3.95 for a Christmas pie. Stuck that one in the freezer.

DH has gone back up to shops as we've forgotten a few bits, plus I am ill so need paracetamol.
    Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 600
  • £48.00 in Ald* today that's deducting vouchers and some pressies. Also £5.00 for my last month of the half price delivery saver, so £53.00 so far for December.
