Spent nine pounds and something pence at Te$co tonight. Got a reduced loaf of Nimble bread (I do WW and low cal bread is expensive!), mushrooms, bananas, milk and a couple of jars of sauce for the food bank collection for that.
It's been 11 days since payday and I've spent less than £70, and even that includes a massive gammon joint for a tenner.
This challenge has been so helpful, thanks so much
I made a chicken chasseur-type dinner tonight using reduced chicken breasts. I worked out it was less than £2 per portion. Yum!0 -

Hi, I'd like to be in for £400 for December to include all usual groceries plus food for over Christmas, including me cooking for more of my family on Boxing Day.
Good luck everyone xx0 -
Hi all, officially started the December GC yesterday even though I hadn't set a budget yet!! I would like to add the underspend from last month to this, so that makes £210 for December.
Went to Morries yesterday, don't often go there but we decided to get the turkey from there this year as it was Good Housekeepings recommended one! We are spending xmas day at my parents but wanted to contribute so decided we would buy the turkey and will take that from our budget.
Spent £34.01, but got some of their selection boxes which were on offer so will remove that as they are for gifts - makes it a £31.01 spend to start us off! Managed to get a few YS bargains, freezer now totally full so definitely DO NOT need to buy meal foods for a while, just lunch stuff! (must keep repeating this to myself!!) I'm working 5 day weeks this month though so need to buy more lunch foods, going to L*dl on Sunday to try and stock up on their sandwich meats and fruit!
Good luck to everyone for the last GC of 2013!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
Thanks for that! Will have a look tomorrow when i'm not as sleepylushlifesaver wrote: »Just remembered (memory prompted by gakko1986 - cheers!) that we get paid almost a week early this month...or so I'm told... as they can't pay us on Christmas Day.
Apparently we're paid early in January too to balance out the early Christmas pay/5 week month.
How do people usually manage that within their grocery budget? It's never really something I've had to think about if I'm honest but just thinking it may mean either there will be more left over or we'll end up spending stupidly thinking we have the give in the budget.
Do people usually adapt their budget to suit?
I'm planning on leaving my wages in my account until the day I am usually paid (last working day). I've never done this before. I've ALWAYS blown my pay BEFORE christmas day then REALLY not coped at all in January!Fingers crossed I can do this then stick to plan
NSD here today. Mega busy day at work so didn't have time to buy foodI did buy a few presents, but obviously different budget

Thanks for being so welcoming.:)
Menu planned for this week as follows:
Sat: hot dogs, chips and veg
Sun: being treated to meal out
Mon: HM chicken fajitas
Tues: HM tuna casserole
Weds: HM meatballs and spaghetti
Thurs: HM chicken curry and naan
Fri: HM pizzas
I only need chicken and yeast for the main meals and a fresh food shop for the week as I have a lot of stock in from November. My dad runs 3 allotments so always gives me lots of veggies and he's coming round this weekend.:D
Small shop later today to get bedding and food for the bunny, face cream for me (I've been so MSE and used hand cream when I ran out yesterday, but my skin does not like it), drinks for the kids and some sweets to put in jars I bought on A'zon for stocking fillers for Christmas. Will post amount tomorrow.:)Blitz that mortgage
