Meals : Friday - went to a dinner (already paid for back in the summer). Absolutely appalling food, coupled with not feeling very well meant I had a small roll only. Bit of a waste but it was a fundraiser so for a good cause anyhow. Had bit of scrambled egg when I got home.
Saturday - Scrambled egg and bagel for breakfast/lunch, HM pizza for supper with fresh tomatoes/peppers/mozzarella.
Sunday - 1/2 baked camembert with croutons and crackers for lunch, lovely roast with lots and lots of veg extras (vegetarian friend popped round) for dinner.
No grocery money spent, but did spend 16.99 on a takeaway yesterday.
However this is going to come out of my treat budget, not grocery budget.
Is this cheating? Do other people split their going out budget and food budget or do you keep it all together?M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0 -
£8.89 spent in waitrose last night, cat food, dog food and some great reduced bits which went in the freezer.0

Different people do different things I think.
I would take it from my food budget, as doing that highlights to me how big a percentage of my budget a takeaway accounts for. My budget for the month is generous (£250 for two people and one cat) but a £20 takeaway is 8% of our budget for the month.0 -
Made a slight change in shopping habit & tried the orange SM as had £17 worth N*ctar points in rewards from paying energy bills. Was really annoyed when I went to Self serve check out to be told I couldn't use them?!? something to do with it not being my home store!!(Anyone else had this problem) I was going to Customer Service but the queue was huge. So I left & went back to Mr T and got my shopping in there, using vouchers & boost. £68ish worth shop for £22ish ... made me feel a little betterChristmas budget £266.38/£535 15/27gifts

Had a bit of shop around this morning. Left home fairly early so that I could get into the Aldi carpark - only about half the spaces available at the moment because the store is being extended and there are workman's huts, tractors & allsorts in the carpark. They must be nearing completion because I noticed today that 4 spaces were piled high with bark for the borders!
Anyway spent £4.27 in Aldi; £3.74 in Savers; £3 in the market on veg and £13.28 in Mr T, although £5 of that was on shopping for someone else so will get it back tomorrow.
Total so far this month is £113.87 out of £250; so not too bad as my month starts again on 24th. Keeping track on here is certainly helping to keep my shopping budget on track!

OOoohhhh... woo hoo!!!! <does a jig> I was thinking yesterday that we have food in to get us to the weekend, and then I need to make £15 last another week (as we tend to do shopping at the weekend) But I only have to get it to last the weekend as I get paid on Monday :D
In reality, I recon we 'might be able to get away with lasting the weekend too. We have lots round on Saturday for a games night (10 adults and 11 kids at current count, not including those who are unconfirmed) but we were planning on making a huge batch of curry (we have cooked whole chickens coming out of our ears), with a side of spicy daal that my friend made last weekend, and I'll spend Saturday morning making up loads of mini naan breads and rotis. Thinking about the weekend's plans, I recon we might only need milk, rice and tinned toms (but may not even need them - this is off the top of my head while I'm sat in work)
I guess I should ask everyone now if they eat curry :rotfl:
Editted to add: Oh and cooking chocolate, as I need to finished off some cake bombs for an event on 23rd and I don't want to be faffing at the last minute.. So, I'll try and get them choc dipped this weekend too, and then in the freezer ready bagged up. However, knowing me - when I'm really well planned, it all goes Pete Tong :rotfl:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

Been quite bad with this challenge, I keep buying things which are reduced which aren't necessarily needed. The £24.31 was a quick trip into Asda to pick up some value hot chocolate and some potatoes but came out with litres of fizzy drinks, 7 hot chocolates and loads of yoghurts. I am however, beginning to use up some bits and bobs from the freezer and the cupboards. For tea tonight it's fajitas which have been in the cupboard for some time with chicken from the freezer which has also been around a couple of months.
I don't get to Asda very often so had a look in their yellow sticker fridge. The prices seemed quite expensive to begin with, mainly ready meals so resisted as nothing I would normally buy. At least milk was cheap in comparison with local village shop and I didn't make a separate journey just to get to Asda.0 -
Hi all, NSD yesterday after small spend on Sunday at co*p of £6.69 but that included reduced lamb mince, pork chops, sprouts and the bread and milk I went for, no SR flour in the place so much for shopping local!
Plan on small shop today at sainsbugs as I have points and vouchers and I need soap powder.

been a bad day money wise for me....good thing is that it hasnt been on food, but the car. New tire needed.
My lil girl has come down with conjunctivitis again 2nd time this year after just having a cold then hand foot and mouth disease (not to be confused with foot and mouth) followed the cold again and now thisin need of some comfort food but dont have any and not going out.
But back to the GC. Do you find it easier to freeze the ingredients for meals ie mince or chicken that make up the meals or to make the meals then freeze them? space is a bit of an issue for me I only have 4 drawers in my freezer.
Off to boots to get antibiotic drops0
