OUT: Heck sausage, yuk yuk yuk, note to self, no matter how cheap they not worth it.
I bought some once, from a food fair - came to cook them for dinner and noticed that the ingredients included cream powder! Not what you expect in a sausage, and being lactose-intolerant it meant I had to cook something else. Couldn't give them to my next-door neighbour either, she's muslim.
Finally gave them to a student friend of mine.
Who puts cream powder in sausages??

I think most of us nowadays, and not necessarily because of intolerances,  are more aware of "odd" ingredients, I spend a lot of time reading ingredient lists, just for my own benifit as I like to keep low carb.

Out: cauliflower and chickpea stew, cooked quinoa, blueberry muffins.
I now have 1 empty shelf in kitchen freezer. This coming week can work through the top shelf in shed freezer which got some soup and pasta sauces left from allotment produce last year.

One freezer was 2/3 empty last week, never has there been so much space in the freezers for years. I moved the remaining 1/3 food into the others and defrosted said freezer. I think self isolating has made me more inventive, my aim being to use what I can as trips to the supermarket were out and therefore no Y.S shopping - sad.... I have tried new ways of presenting meals and have been a little more daring, however old-age does not come alone and I find that we are becoming a little less tolerant of some food. DH has never liked rice, pasta and some vegetables - which I love - I find potatoes do not agree with me, and I'm certainly not able to eat cheese made with cows milk and I've recently moved over to plant milk I just wonder if in time I won't be able to eat dairy at all - (just had a thought, maybe we should get a couple of milking goats or ewes!!!)

Back to the freezers....... An empty freezer meant I've certainly saved a lot of money from my yearly food budget and when I realised I'd no fish at all I decided to stock up. 32K of fish arrived 2 days ago, apart from smoked fish all needed gutting and it's years since I gutted a fish so it took me most of the day to process everything and freeze it. I worked out the cost and I think I've saved about 60% - not a bad saving and loads of lovely meals ahead. There is still space in the freezer, two more items will be arriving in the next few days!!!
