I've got to ask: I always thought cheese texture goes weird if it gets frozen. Like cheddar goes crumbly. How does brie and stilton hold in freezer? I always look at the rounds with envy since it just 2 of us, so any advice would be great!joedenise said:In: brie (bought a whole round and cut into 6 pieces - one in fridge, rest in freezer - one for Christmas); piece of stilton (for Christmas)It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.2 -
This is the first time I bought a whole round in the UK - I usually buy them in France and I've always found that the texture is pretty much the same as when it goes into the freezer. I should say I have bought a French brie and not an English one and I think it is a better flavour. There's only 2 of us as well so it does last a fair while as we don't have it in the fridge all the time, just now and again. The piece we finished recently was the last piece from when we were in France at the beginning of March!
With regard to the Stilton I've got no idea as not tried freezing it before but suspect it might be a bit crumbly like cheddar as it is a harder cheese than brie.
