I have been forced to cook a leg of lamb and various things today as I went to my shed upright freezer to get some mushrooms and found I hadnt shut the door properly a couple of days ago and half the food had defrosted.  plus the freezer was chocker block with ice..  Half of the food went in the bin to be safe. It made me now realise I need to use everything I already have before buying any more frozen food.
The lamb was lovely and enough for several days :0)

I can't find the posting but someone on this thread wrote about beef skirt.

When I lived in the north as a child my mother bought beef skirt. It was very distinctive and  the beef looked like it was striated. It was about 1-2ins in depth and quite a large flattish piece of meat (sorry not a very good description) but there was no fat on it at all and it was delicious and used in pies. Now living in the south when I ask for skirt it's nothing like I used to know and to be honest the butcher is of little help as well. The skirt is not striated - just a lump of meat.
Does anyone recognise what I'm writing about and do you know what I could ask for so I get the cut I used to love.

I know exactly what you’re talking about - I am originally from the north too and my mum uses the same. Really tender, thin/flat piece of meat and gorgeous in a casserole. I now live in the south and haven’t seen it anywhere, but my mum regularly buys it and brings it down for me - she gets it in Costco. Sorry if that’s not of any use to you.

It may have been me, it is striated, I buy beef skirt regularly in Morrisons, it could be regional, I am from the Black Country but live in South Wales, don't recall skirt as a cut there,  you could look for one of those pictures that names bits of the cows, and possibly point it out to your butcher.
