Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two
Comments
-
Morning everyone,
We had a weekend of using up all the single items in the freezer so we had some very odd but lovely meals.
Out 1 rack of lamb, 1 pork steak, 1 piece of salmon, 1 smoked salmon starter, 1 lump of pizza dough.
I have also used up some bits of frozen fruit (apples, gooseberries and currants) by making a compote.
Tonight's tea (chilli) has also been extracted from the freezer.:)0 -
I'm going to have to rethink the open pack of pittas in the freezer - I had one toasted with salad and humus and avocado, one of my favourite lunches, and it is was just horrible, totally dried up and marginally less pleasant tasting than eating cardboard
I've got 4 unopened packswhich will hopefully be fine, and another couple left in the open pack, and I'm going to have to use them like breadcrumbs, or maybe try something like enchilladas with them - not intending to be beaten!
Out: 1 pitta bread
In: nothing0 -
Afternoon all,
I had a go at this last year but it sadly fell by the wayside so here I am for another go.
In
nothing
Out
2 lamb steaks
Been there done that @Hopeless Case:rotfl:0 -
Since 4/6/18,
Aim to have 3.5/4 drawers empty by the end of the month = remains the same (which was 3 empty/end May 2018).
Using up 6 previously batch cooked recipes = have had some of each but 0/6 completely finished.
A "small" online food order is being delivered today whereby the cost is "low", especially if my next one is possibly in two weeks time.0 -
My freezer is still full to bursting but I'm working through it slowly!
Out: 2 more pitta breads, a cheese and onion pasty, some blackberries, a left-over rice dish, some garlic bread, pastrami for sandwich filling, some broccoli soup, some sausages and Linda McCartney sausages
In: Some YL corn tortilla wraps0 -
1 from 6 of the batched cooked recipes was finished today. Thought about going out for more food but instead, checked the fridge and freezer and have ready meal ideas for the next few days.0

Only 1 small pitta bread out yesterday and 2 (very reduced YL) large sliced tiger loaves went in, they do physically take up a lot of room but I'm happy because they're for my OH's lunches and he won't eat the little wholemeal pittas which I've still got 4 packs of, or the corn tortilla wraps, so I'd either have to buy bread for him anyway or he'd be off to Greggs!!
I had the last of the defrosted broccoli soup with the pitta bread as 'toast' so I was still doing my bit to use up excess stocks!:D0 -
In
4 turkey burgers
12 chicken breasts
Out
4 chicken burgers
6 sausages
wraps
2 lamb steaks
diced chicken thigh
2 chicken breasts0 -
Went out yesterday early a.m. for some exercise (bicycle). Checked for "yellow-stickers" on the way home at a supermarket. More "expensive" than the last time and didn't need what they had anyway so nothing purchased.
Still working upon my "mini challenges" but same result as my last post. Also, freezer space not yet at 3.5 drawers empty.0 -
No last weekend shopping purchases. Finished one more batch cooked recipe (completely) today, so four left to finish before the end of the month.0
