Today, planned the menu for the next day or so, in order to not be tempted to make more batch cooked recipes that will end up in the freezer.0 -

Hi Dannie, know where you are coming from. I have had bad back for 2 weeks and now stinking cold so have been eating soup from freezer and either pre-cooked or easy to micro foods prepared months ago for when I came out of hospital. There were in kitchen freezer so easy to get at. May have to start making fresh but plenty in dump bags. Thanks heaven for soup maker and especially for freezer.0

I am REALLY not going to shop except for milk in February the time has come to get to the end of two freezers so I can sort out my kitchen and be ready for the summer fruit glut that will be here before I know it. I really do think I have enough food to last for at least four weeks so the challenge is on.
Out: lasagne, sirloin steak, mixed summer fruit (raspberries, white currants and strawberries.0 -
OUT: Chicken drumsticks, packet of crumpets, packet of bread rolls, garlic flat bread, portion of carrot and coriander soup, end of a pack of croutons, lard block, rice, 2 packs brownie mix, 350g jelly crystals.
IN: 4 packs noodles, 8 bags pasta, 10 packs spaghetti, 10 angel delight packs, 3.5kg jelly mix, 2 jars salsa, american mustard, enchilada kit.
Repurposed...... Have made up some fat balls for the birds with an eons old block of lard I have had in the freezer forever, had some bird seed and peanuts kicking about so figured I had a plan to get rid of the lard!!! I am suspicious I might have some suet in the bottom of the freezer as well, not sure if it got thrown out but if it surfaces will do the same with it!
Also in a fit of genius i realised I have everything needed to make my own muesli, no idea why it hasn't ever occurred to me in the past but am feeling somewhat virtuous having emptied a bunch of packets of half used nuts and dried fruit as well as some cereals no one will eat and now I have a big container of muesli that I will eat several times a week. Inspired I tell ya!!!!
Desperately need to defrost the freezer as there is a whole bottom third that is so covered in ice I struggle to dig anything out. Am hoping some inspiration will strike by the time I get there as to how to keep things in the freezer in a way that I can access everything better. It is a reasonable sized chest freezer and I have always lost stuff in the bottom. There has to be a better way!!!0
