Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two
Comments

In: nothing
Out: feta&cheese pie, cooked rice, coconut powder, green chillies, ginger, pork steak
Used up: LO baked beans, banana0 -
Hi, I just wondered if anybody else is still doing this challenge? I am unsure if to do so although did make some progress last year.0

This seems to be something I need to seriously look at. I have cupboards with stuff in that i actually don't know and a full freezer I desperately need to defrost. Will be next week probably before I get to the bottom of what is in either place but could use the friendly motivation of others achieving this so will check in and see how everyone does too.:)0

Oh I need to do this again this year .....I was doing reasonably well and had some freezer space then christmas happened and a trip to costco happened so now they are bulging at the seams again (just like me
)
I do need to stock up on homemade ready meals ready for an op I am having soon but of course this always creates more so one potion of mince will make 4 portions of chilli ....I feel I am a lost cause0 -
I had stopped posting as I was feeling a bit "billy-no-mates" not that I had magically used up the freezers/cupboard overload all of which are rather full post-Christmas:o. That said I did manage to clear quite a bit of space in the run up to the festive period which did allow me to get everything stashed and then find a home for 10 (now 9) Greek pittas which seem to take up loads of space and rather a lot of salmon (though the majority of that has been eaten.
I'd a small shop today mainly of fresh stuff, bread and a couple of things for cooking for my sister's birthday this weekend.
Today:
In: bag of frozen cauliflower, tinned plum tomatoes
Out: chicken thighs
Used up: beef stew, red cabbage0 -

Thanks caronc, you are the inspiration I need!! Can I ask though what is the difference between OUT and USED UP? I presume IN is a new purchase going into the freezer or cupboard.....0 -

I've also home made frozen vegetarian rissoles, and two type of buns using coconut flour in the freezer - obviously no best before dates, but must not forget them.
In January I have so far only bought bread, milk, cheese spread, baked beans and fresh veg/salad.
Mind you, I had lots of chocolate to eat!

December 2017 challenge to use up freezer batch-cooked recipes made before 7/12/17 and empty three freezer drawers before the end of 2017:-
- In 3 weeks approx., the total amount of recipes used up were 19.
- 2 freezer drawers were emptied. Another drawer with careful arranging could make it 1/3. It's difficult to be precise so "at a guess" = 2 and a 1/3 of another.
P.S. Thanks for the update Frogletina.
Hi, above was how far I had got.
This year I have continued to use up previously prepared freezer items (several of each); so far 11 recipes. However, more batch cooking has slowed things down plus some post Christmas 2017 yellow-sticker purchases bought locally in bulk.
The freezer drawers are getting full again; so slightly less than 2 now? My online food grocery shopping has been mainly just the "basics".
Thanks for all your much appreciated comments following my query yesterday.0 -

We all have our own systems. I'm only tracking what goes in & out of my freezers and cupboards rather than fresh stuff I buy most weeks.
For me "out" is I've taken it out of the freezer /cupboard stores, "Use up" refers to leftovers and odd bits of things that have reached the point of use or ditched. Sorry if I've confused things but it works for me.....0
