In the end I did the pork casserole in a spicy tomato sauce with chick peas and chorizo. Not spicy enough to disguise the taste of the frozen veg though, not sure what made it taste so unpleasant, but it’s all used up now.

Defrosting for tomorrow night’s dinner : lamb mince and urad beans (that I’ll pretend are green lentils) to make a shep pie

Used up last of bottle of wine vinegar (bought by mistake) and popped some popcorn for a long car journey we’ll be taking at weekend

The freezer drawer of selected items that I am using up is just two meals away from being achieved. Not much food is being purchased. My UHT milk is running out so will be ordering these online. However, I intend to not make using up "stores" problematic so will choose anything else carefully!

I've not posted for a few days as I decided at the weekend that I really needed to sort out my freezers as there was no rhyme or reason to the way I had things stored so although I had lists things were dotted all over the place so it was hard to get a sense of how much of things I had. Gee whizz what a job and what an eye-opener:eek:. Suffice to say I have many £100s of frozen food which is both :o and scary. Some of the excess is planned in as much as I tend to buy a lot of meat in bulk a few times a year but even so....(more :o:o is I've been on this thread since early 2017 :o:o)

After a lot of shuffling (and swearing) I now have ordered freezers and up to date lists. On a plus I only found one UFO which didn't relate to anything on the lists which I think might have been egg whites. So that and some rather elderly crusty bread portions was the only wastage.

Of course on Friday I bought a whole chicken as I had real notion for a proper roast. That's a lot of chicken for a single household and I'm not a great one for eating the same meat day after day. I'll enjoy some of it again tonight but the rest will be frozen tomorrow and as I hate waste any of it stock will be made from the carcass so that will no doubt end up in there too:cool:. On a plus I know have little space, which is just as well as I've a load of home grown ripe tomatoes that need processed and frozen:).
