    30th and 31st August 2017inc. -

More of a swap system whereby food goes into the freezer in exchange for something else being taken out. Batch cooking seems to be the main reason?

Yesterday, was a (food) spend day. I "had" to buy some presents for some one from an "expensive" store. The presents were on offer at buy one and get one half price. This meant that I also acquired some food cupboard items for myself which were also on offer.

No (food) spend days for August 2017 = 23/29.

I was"under budget" for the monthly food groceries but still seem well stocked up.

I can finally see the bottom of my large chest freezer. I keep all my uncooked meat in there and nothing else. At last I've spotted the bottom but I should still have enough meat to last us until the turkeys are ready in December if I'm careful.

    IN nothing
OUT:- a small piece of pork which I didn't know was there. The date on the pack says 18/8/2014 so it's 3 yrs old but looks absolutely fine so I'm roasting it as I type. I wonder what else I shall find over the coming weeks? Also two sausages which I used in scotch eggs for lunch, a couple of slices of bread for 'bread and butter pudding with attitude'
Everything else was from the veg patch or fridge.

Oh I'm jealous despite my best efforts my freezers are groaning and I'm struggling to fit garden produce in.

    In: nothing
Out: muffin, rump steak, small brisket joint
Used up: 2 OOD eggs (only went OOD yesterday), a couple of spoonfuls from a lurking tub of creme fraiche and some slightly wrinkly mushrooms.

Oh my! Did a freezer audit - SO much fruit and veg - bread bags full of plums, broad beans, borlotti beans and raspberries. I have strings of onions in the toolshed and twenty butternut squash waiting to go in a sack!

Keep "using up" the items from "food stores" and trying not to make anything that will then end up in the food freezer. However, might find some more blackberries today!
