    In; nothing
Out 2 x cod in breadcrumbs, 4 slices bread
Used up: veg and fruit from fridge and veg plot, ham.

I'm just about to do my meal plan for next week. I don't really want to go shopping and want to make do with what I have. There should be enough veg from the plot and I'll try to get by without getting any fruit as I've enough apples and there are blackberries by the ton on our place not to mention a load of frozen berries and plums in the freezer from last year which need using up.

No (food) spend days = 18/22.

Keep using up bits from existing food supplies but the whole process is very slow.

I know what you mean DannieI need to run the freezers down so I can freeze the veg from the plot, but it never seems to go smoothly.
This year I have had vandals totally trash my egg table at the gate, I had to buy a new honesty box and a new cage for the eggs (otherwise the squirrels break them) and whilst I was waiting for the box and cage to arrive I ended up with 9trays (270) of eggs that were 3 days old so I have had to make icecream with them. Where do you put icecream? in the freezer!!!! So the space I had has now gone.

    In -nothing (thank goodness)
Out:- 2 portions of cooked meat, icecream
used up:- veg from veg plot, pk biscuits,

At least I've not been shopping for food - other stuff like dishwasher tabs and pet food but no food for us.

zafiro1984 - Same with me, in that things never go to plan in reducing my food supplies. Sorry to hear about the experienced vandalism to your property. I would be thinking how it would be possible to use up the ice cream in different ways with what food I have already stored.

    Today seemed more constructive :-

Coming to the end of using up my baked onion "glut" - often combined with cheese or bland protein sources and on freezer stored bread/pizza bases.
Two small tubs of margarine - for boiled rice. Just one small tub left now.
Free picked blackberries - two small bags used for a dessert recipe and in a homemade vinegar recipe.
Free picked beechnuts - shells removed and very small yield had (was only 1gram and some people think these are toxic).
Collected bits of salad greens from my garden.

No (food) spend days = 19/23.

Dannie:- I know you can eat beech nuts and we have loads of beech trees in our wood all happily dropping their nuts which are still green, but when I cracked a nut open it had such a small kernel inside I was quite disappointed. I'd be interested to know how you use them as it seems a shame not to try and get some use out of them.

In:- nothing but I must go and collect some blackberries before they all disappear.
Out:- 1 piece of fish and 1 turkey drumstick, 4 pieces of bread and 2 pieces of cake, everything else came out of the fridge.

zafiro1984 - I have been having a read about beechnuts and found this site that I originally checked years ago :-

    http://www.pfaf.org/user/plant.aspx?LatinName=Fagus+sylvatica

I oven roast them, but I must warn you that numerous people online say they are toxic.
