I am definitely going to try that peanut butter ball recipe as I already have all the ingredients and need something to do with chia seeds (don't put them on cereal they develop a horrid goopy texture when wet - bleurgh!)

They make a great thickener for sugar free jam as well.

I wish I'd joined in as I have been using up from my freezer and cupboards since Xmas. And I'm nearly there! Can actually see the bottom of the freezer drawers and how much they need a clean now haha.

What's more exciting is filling them back up again. I'm now researching the best meat and fish packs I can get hold off and planning a batch cook and bake day for hubby who works late hours a lot. Things I can leave him to be heat up easily but are proper cooked from scratch dinners with veggies, and some nice things for his work lunch boxes and things to take into our work teams for treats.

I'm one of those sad people who keeps an inventory. It's been a joy scoring off items.

Keep up the good work everyone x

I was going to go shopping earlier in the week, mainly needed bread and milk, but I decided to wait when I worked out that I had just enough bread to last till the weekend. I used the last 2 cartons of long life milk, which just about did me up to yesterday morning, although I did have to add a bit of water to it for my porridge, as I didn't have quite enough. I did think I'd have to open the tin of evaporated milk I've had in the cupboard for ages, but didn't need to in the end, and when I went shopping I only bought what was on my list.

.... and the end of a punnet of rice cakes

Sat IN: ys fresh beetroot, ys shallots, misori (chinese) dumplings, avocados, loaf of , Birds Eye 1/4lbers,
OUT : Two bagels for breakfast, two sachets of porridge at work for my dinner. For DD rest of chicken bites, apple, crisps, choc biscuit etc. Chicken and sweet chilli sauce with rice for her tea, so two portions of chicken thighs out, and extra rice for fridge (possibly freezer). I had leftover thai out of fridge, with some chinese dumplings and seaweed. More bakewell tart and a small portion of nuts with a tipple of kahlua and finished a 2ltr bottle of coke.

Will update today's later as phone needs charging.

That should read punnet of strawberries, thai curry and loaf of bread :rotfl:

Yesterday's ins were two YS two pinters of milk, YS red onions and some onion granules.

I attempted to make some more seitan which was this time spot on. So a bag of vital wheat gluten flour out, plus nutritional yeast tub. However, another one of each opened. More bagels, more bakewell tart, avocado and nearly a pack of rice cakes, plus two sesame seeded buns. Had to try seitan out as had nothing but bagels and rice cakes. Was beautiful!

Taking bagel with sliced seitan to work today, already got Trek bar in work and a banana I have left. So last of the bag of onion bagels OUT plus the end of a milk roll (two slices) which had gone mouldy, and another banana for breakfast and end of cinnamon bagels. No clue what DD2 has taken for packed lunch, although did see her doing grapes and grabbing Cadburys snack biscuits last night ;)

Bonus find in my store cupboard!! A brand new, unopened big jar of Kenco coffee so I don't need to buy any after all... I actually laughed when I saw it - it's the small things in life.

But we are down to the last 3 loo rolls and we have 3 loos in the house and kids who seem to use huge amounts so needing to buy today - but planning a wee top up shop anyway... I WILL stick to my list. I WILL. I need bread, milk, yogurts, loo roll (BandM), firelighters, ham, onions (I think on 29p at Leedl this week), carrots, radish and I want to check out if there's any veg seeds in my normal Leedl too as someone posted their's had 29p seeds (but these would not be from my grocery budget I don't think).

OUT: leftover veg, stuffing, pork from last night
IN: should be leftover roast pork shoulder which I will shred and put in the mixed meats for making egg fried rice box in freezer

Have a great week folks x

I'd love to try your recipe for seitan. I've never attempted to make it but it would be good to try a tried and tested recipe

How do you make seitan? And what do you do with it when you've made it? It tends to be quite expensive in health food shops so I've never tried it but I imagine it's a lot cheaper if you make it yourself.
