Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two
Comments
-
I'm going to try eating from the freezer & cupboards for the rest of January. It shouldn't be too hard as they are packed to the rafters, the trouble is that I tend to not want to bother cooking when I get home from work so usually just make do with a sandwich or tortilla chips with raw veg & salsa or anything that can be put together in 2 minutes flat.
I will make more of an effort and actually make proper meals from tomorrow - just had a seedy roll with strawberry jam and a cup of builders tea tonight

Used up the left over stir fry pkt and some red onions by throwing them in a frying pan with sesame oil, sesame seeds and some chilli flakes. Added in some left over turkey and gammon.
There was that much that we didn't need noodles but OH had a slice of baton topped with cheese with his.
For snacks last night I used up some yacon granola and OH used up a mince pie and a couple of cheese and chive bread sticks.
Still nowhere near where I can do an inventory but getting to the point where we are not at risk of throwing anything out
I think parsnips will be on my list today to use or prep for the freezer. Also half a green pepper. Might fry that off with mushrooms to go with some thing for dinner tonight.£36/£240

Almond butter can be used instead of peanut butter in a sandwich or on crackers, instead of tahini in hummus, to fill the big ridge in celery to have as a scrummy snack, to bind together veggie burgers, or to make a satay-type sauce I melt together almond butter, coconut milk, a splosh of soy sauce and a pinch or two of sugar and serve with veg such as carrots, new potatoes, green beans, mini corn cobs, broad beans, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus etc.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0

Today will be a pasta bake using up any meat from the fridge, and using the heat of the oven while that is cooking to cook the sausages through for tomorrow.0 -

Pop it in the oven on a baking sheet after you have used it and turned it off, this will dry it then you can use it for months in anything you like. I do this all the time with fresh herbs that I see for pennies reduced.
Oooh that's very smart! I'll do that!
Out:
2 steaks
Tin of Tom pur!e
End of a small bag of spuds0 -
