Another idea I picked up many moons ago from a lady who was well known for her mince recipes. Was using a deep muffin tin, putting a layer of savoury mince with onions, carrots, peas into the muffin tin half way up. Putting it into a hot oven and then topping with a layer of yorkshire pudding batter.0

Shepherds pie yorkie puddings, now that is a brilliant idea!0 -
Evening all
Hope you're all OK?
Found out today that I've got to have a blood test tomorrow morning and need to fast for 12 hours beforehand, so I did what any normal person does and immediately started eating enough for a week! Had fishcake and chips for lunch with a slice of cake from the local deli, then snacked on some cheese and crackers, followed by chocolate. Just had dinner which was 'empty the fridge casserole', basically some chicken that I had intended to give to the cats, some ham and lots of carrots, onions and green beans with a few potatoes. Wasn't at all bad actually
I've got another 40 minutes in which I can eat so I'm off to scavenge what I can from the cupboards :rotfl: Sure you'll up put up photos of delicious looking things any minute now and I'll just have to look on enviously (nothing new there then...!)
EDIT: and after extensive research I can confirm that pickled beetroot and hummus on ryvita crackers is a pretty good combination *wipes crumbs from chin*0 -
^ I do that too, eat as much as poss and get in a banana at the last second - but was still bloody starving by the time I got there the next day!
No more cooking from me last 2 nights, just more Higgidy pies, sweetcorn/peas & HM bread. Though now run out of easy stuff so back to cooking tomorrow.. probably stuffed pepper as I have a spare. Have some tofu and 1 portion of stilton as alternatives if I change my mind.
Flo - have you been cutting dinners in half again - is that just half a ham/cheese crispbake in the bottom pic?! I don't know how you do it! I'm only small but I'd have to eat a whole one!0 -
^ ^ ^ I know, I'm always famished too, it's all in the mind isn't it! I was just thinking to myself that I should have made one of MrsF's Apple In and Out pudding to have for breakfast after the blood test but I don't think I've got any suet left.
I'm out and about most of tomorrow so probably not much time for cooking, but now that you've all planted the idea of an alternative toad in the hole in my mind, I really want one so I'll have a crack at that tomorrow or Friday. I'm leaning towards roast potato and chicken in a mustard yorkie batter, with some onion gravy. Drool.
Do you make your hommity pies Kirri, they look tasty but complicated (mind you anything with pastry looks complicated to me, will have to invite MrsF over to give me some pastry making lessons!)0 -

Evening all
Well I made TITH yesterday to satisfy that craving, and very nice it was too. I'll be scoffing the rest for dinner this evening with a lovely onion gravy and a little bit of mashed potato. Still struggling to upload photos as sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't so I'll have to find out what I'm doing wrong.
I've been on a mission to find Japanese KitKats for the last few days as they come in all sorts of weird and wonderful flavours. Managed to find some in the Japan Centre in London in green tea and in strawberry flavour and they are yum, also very small and just 63 calories so an allowable treat. Now searching for blueberry cheesecake, cinnamon and wasabi flavours that are apparently very popular in Japan. Cat likes them too!
I'll be attempting a beef casserole in the slow cooker tomorrow and I'm going to have a bash at dumplings too. Wish me luck...
