^ rofl at the non slimy crudites. I fancy some myself now but new salad veg box not due till tomorrow.

I attempted breadsticks today - as I was making bread anyway. Normally do 2 loaves but did 1 loaf of bread and cut the other half of the dough into breadsticks.. need to work on the size/cooking time though! Did 2 batches, cooking 1 lot for 5 mins longer but I'm still not sure they were cooked quite right either. Tasted lovely though! Will make more at the weekend.

Made 100g worth of split pea dip, had 1 lot for lunch with the hot breadsticks.

Not sure whether to cook dinner or just have more breadsticks...

I'd already eaten a few by the time I took the pic :o

Thanks all, they were so good I didn't cook dinner, I just had another portion instead :D Breadsticks were nice and cheap to make compared to the ones I bought last week. I should have done some veg with it though for dinner but was in a snacking mood..

Sharond101 - I cooked the split peas for 45 mins ish, drained and put them in the food processor with olive oil, salt, pepper, tiny bit of chilli flakes, few cumin seeds and garlic then put in a dish and added on top a bit more olive oil, dukkah (Waitrose) and pepper - very cheap to make as well! It's a bit like a houmous but split peas are a lot quicker to cook. I added black onion seeds as well last time but forgot today.

Yesterday, out: sausage casserole of some sort, lamb curry, 2 pints of milk, 3 slices of bread. In: 2 x pizza, 4 x butter.
  • Out of freezer, 2 bread rolls ( for kids packed lunch for school) pack of meatballs & three muffins. going to cook meatball pasta bake for the kids for tonight and use the muffins to do homemade garlic bread.

In the freezer nothing but I did put in a load of reduced bread items in there yesterday.

  • Out of the freezer, crumpets for breakfast. Will also be taking out a 1/2 pack of hot & spicy mini chicken fillets. To go with the left over pasta bake we had last night.

Nothing in the freezer today! Still have plenty to get by with x

^ MNR - never thought of putting corn in with the asparagus.

I never got round to making the risotto, I had a gift voucher so had a spend up in Waitrose (got lots of things on offer too), felt like the first proper shop in ages as I actually have things other than veg in the fridge for once. Been nice to have dinner without the usual big effort trying to make something out of nothing!

So not been cooking as been eating the Waitrose bits :o Even treated myself to one of the Pots & Co desserts, salted caramel.. love the pots they come in too.

I finished up the breadsticks for lunch - reheated them the last couple of days and did a melted garlic butter with them and slices of cheese.

Tonight had the last of the salad bag with a Higgidy pie and griddled the rest of the HG asparagus.
