Hope son has striped the lawn for you, Ali. Though personally I think he's dealt a bit cheap or perhaps your negotiation skills are just far better than his.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
:rotfl: What's the going rate then?! Took him 20 minutes - it's not big, I did the edging and clearing up.
He gets £5 a week pocket money and doesn't do anything to earn that. Plus adhoc cash if he is going out with his friends.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
Ali: I've no idea the "going rate", just think you did rather well to get him to do it for £2.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Next time Ali try paying in Aldi chocolate.
I don't pay my son anything for doing the grass. When he starts paying me for doing his laundry/cooking/cleaning etc then we can talk. He said I am sexist because I told him it's man's work :rotfl:. I told him to shut up and get on with it.
Thinking about the office space, could you convert the garage into a decent office?
So nice reading your diary just now as it is all so positive.5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
:rotfl: An interesting debate! DB's kids didn't get pocket money, they had to earn by task - grass cutting was £1 in his household so I went to £2 allowing for inflation :rotfl:
You're right on the choc MiT - if he hadn't got a supply already that would probably have worked :rotfl: Money is on his want list at the moment. We've applied for a local paper round for him (free evening one once a week) and that's about £5 for 1.5-2hrs.
I really want to keep the garage as is if I can. Once we've decluttered fully, car booted and become more minimalist than currently, I want to start putting the runaround back in there overnight. Ooh just had a thought - I should get some money back from the sports car insurance once that goes too.
Have just been and banked the car deposit money and also popped in Sburys as we were running low on Basics tea bags, coffee and blue loos. Needed shave gel as well and there's a price glitch on that - advertised at £1.38 on the shelf, went through at £1.25 (good job I bought 2 then). So the grocery budget has been eaten into by £4.25. Will update sig with budget and spends to date shortly.
Mortgage capital payment gone out and sig updated. Phoned bank to advise. DS's maintenance is in as well.
Some financials done at 6am!
- Bank account checked
- Inbox Pounds up to £12.60

New month for Nectar Search, so had better get started on that and a new week for Adpoints. Canvass I am being lazy - I must make more of an effort.
- freepostcodelottery (day) checked
Right, back to work stuff for me, will catch up later.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Cousin's children do not get pocket money and instead do chores / work on the land / stables to earn their cash. They don't do badly from it but know the meaning of hard work at a young age. My son is too young to receive pocket money but that doesn't stop his grandparents, so that combined with child benefit goes into an account for him.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Is this a new generational thing with grandparents giving pocket money? I used to get to choose 2 for 1p chews (blackjacks and fruit salads) from my Nan's tin! DS gets pocket money from both sides - £2 a week from my Mum, the same from the other side but saved until we see them (usually quarterly due to distance) and then they add some more and he usually ends up with £50 a time! He does save though - £1k+ and counting, plus has a current account that he keeps roughly £100 in. He understands interest and likes watching it grow. :money: and he's caught on to family ramblings of cousin saving for house deposit, etc. He's done a few Nectar surveys that specifically ask for children in his age group too.
The grass cutting was hard work as far as he was concerned :rotfl:
In other news, the lovely couple buying the sports car have just phoned - they are coming to pay the balance and collect on Wednesday evening. :j:j 48 hours and counting now.
Noddle Credit Report update is in, so I've had a nosey at that. All fine and dandy there and lovely to see 5 months of the mortgage balance going down. Really chuffed with my progress there. :T
Got to toddle off to an after hours work meeting shortly. A long day for a Monday, but needs must on this one.Surveys and adpoints will just have to wait for now.

I gave my kids £10 per month pocket money but they were never ever paid for chores. I have always told them that they need to make a contribution to the house workwise whilst they live here ( hasn't worked lol) They have both worked since 13 with paper rounds, chip shop, newsagent, friend's laundry business and cleaning holiday lets. Not all at one time
. So since 13 yrs old I haven't paid any pocket money. I do however give them money if they are going somewhere special. For instance DD is heading to T in the park this summer and I will no doubt give her a wee £20. They both have a brilliant attitude to work now

15 quid an hour here for basic gardening believe it or not.
My DS who is working through uni gets less than half of that an hour.

I had a quick look up of the minimum wage - its £3.72 an hour under 18, so DS's £2 for 20 minutes doesn't seem too bad in comparison.
Gardeners are expensive Beanie  I know Mum's gardening chap is £18.00 an hour.
MiT, DS is keen to work part-time and earn his own money, so I'll be supporting that. Paper round, part-time shop work - whatever he can get that's age appropriate. They take them at 15 here in some of the retail park shops providing they've got their NI card, so I must make sure we get one for him.
I haven't done anything else on the financials list except check the evening freepostcodelottery.
