The march to financial freedom

Good to hear your views, Ig not hijacking at all - it's a big decision if I do move it, so maybe best staying where I am and just opening the TSB one to transfer funds around to get the interest. Halifax would want my current one closed to get the £100 which I'm not prepared to do anyway.
More research required me thinksBack on the DFW Wagon:

Of course. Anytime. I can't repay enough the support I've had over the past few weeks. It really has been a lifeline.
DD has the Children's Halifax Regular saver. The details are on the MSE site. You can pay in £10 - £100 month. 6% tax free. For 1 year. Then your money is transferred and you start again. When I initially took it our for her about 4 years ago it was 10%!
She's also got a savings book account which is about 0.5% and a cash card account about the same. But I noticed Halifax have a Young Saver which has a cash card and 3% interest and want to open one of those so that after the 6% finishes it's transferred in. I would hide the card from her so she wouldn't be tempted although she is much better than me with money.
I am though now thinking about the Lloyds young saver you mentioned. At 4% that's better than the Halifax one. She could have all three and move the money around I guess.
Don't mention the menopause  I had all the windows open yesterday and everyone else was freezing. Then today went to Asda without a coat as I was boiling and when I came out I was freezing!
It's enough to drive you to a white chocolate magnum. Oh it did yum!
Hi Beanie Lou - I have got a Santander account but only for a few direct debits and to get the 3% on my little pot of savings/just in case fund. I haven't had any problems but don't use them that often. Find it a pain that if I enter my online password incorrectly three times (which i have strangely done twice now) I have to call and then wait for a new one to be posted to me which takes about a week:(:):)
Morning SS,
I've just checked DS's accounts and interest rates - the Young Saver is back at 3% and his Current account is at 2.5% - so no better than Halifax for that.
Thanks for the Regular Saver info, that looks a decent deal. Now to convince DS half his pocket money should go that way each month
Either I'm getting old or interest rates across differing types of accounts are getting more confusing by the day :rotfl:
White choc magnum you say....oh, I've joined MiT's sweet treat ban...from tomorrow :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

I'm trying to overcome my addiction to round numbers by changing the payment to the CC tomorrow from £25 to £26.74 - made up of the £26 change bucket money and 74p from Qmee that I've transferred into the current account.
The debt left will be £4,348.26 and 46.9% paid off.
Writing it now so I get used to it and won't have to recalculate it tomorrow :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

After a cleaning the house race with SS, roast lamb (YS) is currently cooking away, so time for a financials update.
I did the energy readings yesterday and gas has come down a bit again. Electric is reasonably predictable now except when DS is off school  and we're using roughly 10 less kwh a week than when I started the purge last November. As per my gas switch last time, current supplier has stopped account access so I can't input the reading  But it's gone on my own spreadsheet anyway and I think I might owe them about £4. Not bad as only 1 DD and 7 weeks worth of usage since the last bill.
Other financials:
- bank account checked
- freepostcodelottery (day) - checked, eve to do
- Nectar adpoints - looks like I'm finishing on 70 for the week
- Nectar Canvass - nothing new there
- Nectar Search - up to 44/100
- Nectar card - sat at £59.66
- Inbox Pounds - oh so close at £19.74 - please give me a 30p survey so I can cash out the £20 min :rotfl:
- Qmee - 17p in the pot again just from today
Ironing done - was just one pair of linen trousers though :rotfl:
Not spent anything nor eaten any sweet treats :T
Half the work stuff completed, more to do, but that could be left until tomorrow afternoon as only with clients in the morning.Back on the DFW Wagon:

DD sends £15 to her savings - it was initially £10/£10 but she wanted to increase it to £15 - I was a little bit worried that she might then rely on me more for spends, but so far so good. The rubbish interest account is the old style savings book which is nice for them to see how much they have but I must change it. It is quite confusing, so glad to see someone else the same.
Well done on the energy savings. I'm going to have a bit of a closer look at ours in the next few weeks. I'm not sure how much I have on my Nectar card, but I think its about £10 so that will come in handy over the next two weeks. I'd forgotten about adpoints so will get that going again.
White chocolate magnum gone and I was a bit of a greedy guts yesterday. I will have a look at MiTs thread in a minute - I think I'll join you on the sweet treats ban. Sounds like a challenge

Lots of points to be had to make pennies on the Nectar card
. Most of mine have come from adpoints, surveys and then a steady trickle across the other areas (mostly not shopping).
I still need to talk to DS about the Regular Saver, must do that.
I went a bit mad in the autumn on saving energy through using the candles :rotfl:, then spent out on LED lightbulbs! Still using the iPad for radio each day - lasts a good week before I need to recharge it.
Sure MiT will be happy to lead the Sweet Treat Ban Gang (ooh that sounds a bit rude :rotfl:), the more the merrier.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Someone 'up there' read my post and gave me 2 surveys on IP to do - oh yes, £20.40 has been cashed out :j:j. It's only taken about 2 months :rotfl:. That's going straight off the CC once it's here and banked
Roast lamb was seriously yummy - big sized steaks that didn't shrink too much either.
Best I get DS's stuff sorted for the morning - time runs away with the lighter nights.Back on the DFW Wagon:

After the excitement of sending a completely odd amount to the CC, the day was hectic with work and the week is set to be more of that.
DS's laptop then decided it would only show the 'blue screen of death' but I've managed to get that working again. Seems to be a bug from a software update (I hope it's just that anyway!).
Financials then:
- bank account checked
- freepostcodelottery (both) - checked
- Nectar adpoints - new week and kicked off with 20 points
- Nectar canvass - an email is in, so will follow that up
- Nectar Search - still on 44/100 but will do some more shortly
- Nectar card value - up at £60.01
- Inbox Pounds - a free £1 to start the new £20 goal off with, so am up to £1.59. Have made £60 from this since February.
- Qmee - nothing else today as yet
Tomorrow, I need to read the electric meter and send off to the new supplier as it's switching day :j. DD is set up and is £6 less than old supplier. So now saving £28 a month on gas and electric. That's quite a result I think.
I've sent my email to energylinx to claim the £17 switching cashback too.
We've done well on the food front, as I thought as I'd need to get some bits before tomorrow's weekly shop, but it will be limited to just some milk in the morning.
No sweet treats today, though the cream crackers and cheese are calling :rotfl:
Hope everyone has had a good start to the week.Back on the DFW Wagon:
