Quiet today ... is it because atush has gone to Cannes? ... Hope all you other MSEers out there are having a fab and MSE Saturday night.0

Hi Cathy
I am having a nice relaxing Saturday night here. Thinking about adding 1 night to our night away to Longleat in April. I fancy going a bit further, so am looking into what I can do, and what I can afford to do. I have always wanted to visit Bath, so that may be an option for an evening.
But just mulling it over atm.0 -
Alotments can be hard work can't they?
Anyway, hi from Sunny cannes. Not much MSE to report (apart from buying in Wine and OJ etc from the supermarket to avoid high hotel prices. I did get a shock this aM in the lift, the breakfast I just ate cost 70Euros!!!!!
I didn't pay that mind, I got a special offer from IHG when I booked the room with bfast included. AS we booked Sat night we got the pricy bfast (incl Champers) included.
Sheesh, who would pay that (apart from t he Odd russian oligarch?).
Scored sum girolles and yummy biscuits to bring back home from the market.0 -
hi WantToBeSE! Bath is lovely and well worth a visit - I would visit it if you can. I had a very quiet night last night too but I actually prefer to stay in and not do much these days - well in fact was never that into going out of a Saturday night anyway.0

atush, 70 euros for breakfast!!:eek::eek: It would want to be a pretty damn good breakfast at that price. Hope it's nice and warm in Cannes. It's a lovely sunny day even here in the UK ... not that warm though. Wot sort of biscuits did you buy? Do they have good patisseries in Cannes? Still salivating over the cake shops in Paris. I love French cakes.0

Have just been testing the new, upcoming version of MSE ... anyone tried it? It's neat and looks good but I am glad to be back in the old version for now.0

Been down the allotment this morning, it was rather chilly and also there were loads of people around (it being Sunday). Dismayingly I have realised that my best shed (I've got three) is starting to need repairs. No idea what to do about this as I don't have the skills to fix sheds and am not sure a standard carpenter would be willing to work on an allotment shed, even if the price was reasonable. Also, the site manager was there and told me she thought the Christmas tree on my allotment (been there since before my time) would need to be chopped down or at the very least cut back pretty severely. I agree with this but again I've got to find a cheap solution, if I can (I am not handy with either a saw or an axe).
On the plus side, I always feel better after I've done a bit of outdoors work, even in chilly March. Everyone should have an allotment. Done properly it's such a cheap pastime, and so good for you.0 -
Sounds like you need to chat up some friendly alottment holders or bargain away some of that extra fruit for help. What sort of repairs? Surely a bit of wood and some nails/screws aren't beyond you?
I bought some macarons and some biscuits made with a load of finely ground nuts like hazlenuts rolled in icing sugar- so yummy.
The breakfast was good, but I was getting over the fact the Normal non sunday price is 42E, when I saw the 70 I nearly fainted. Just as well I had 2 glasses of bucks fiz and took a madelene and a diet coke back to the room lol.0 -

My life seems to have degenerated into work (very busy) and running, so Saturday night was pasta night in preparation for the long run this morning - 36km (or 22 1/3 miles, if you prefer) was three hours exactly, so just about where I want to be right now. Then got in through the door, sat down, and got called out by work
Not much to report otherwise, although following the thread when I get time :T0 -

It's the shed roof which is starting to fall in - it's corrugated iron and has developed a sizeable hole in one corner. I do have a spare bit of corrugated iron I could use to cover it but believe me I've tried to fix shed roofs before and the results never last. I'd actually love to have better carpentry skills.I'll ask the allotment manager if she knows anyone who might be willing to help.
atush, the prices sound so alarming I think you ought to permanently keep a glass of bucks fizz to hand in case you see any others
Have started readying myself for my Italy trip in October by taking (free) Italian lessons on Duolingo (very handy website). Did I mention it was free? ... :T0
