Thanks Chrysalis, I reckon you're right about the kids, I just hope this little phase passes soon!! Hope it didn't rain too much with you, we've had a lot this week but we are in a VERY rainy part of the country :o

So the hubby has had a week off which has just been LOVELY :) I've been able to have a bit of space from toddler star (by this I mean I've not had to deal with Every. Single. Tantrum or issue or whatever else is the drama at that particular moment. I drove to meet friends for a gorgeous lunch which was such a treat, and we went to a wedding yesterday which was just beautiful  We also celebrated the the hubsters birthday with a little boat ride and our first and last meal out of the year (with kids). Other days have been spent being fed and looked after by various grandparents so the whole week has felt like one big treat.

However, things were looking even better on Friday when we accepted an offer on the house.......only for them to pull out first thing on Saturday morning :mad::mad: We are so so gutted, as not only would we have made enough money to pay off a fair bit of our debts, but we would have moved to a house that suits us so much more and would make our lives easier. However, it's obviously not meant to be and we just have to believe that our perfect buyer is out there.

YNAB is going......okay...... We have cracked the monthly budget part of things but all the reconciling to get the right balance in all of the accounts, not so much. It's working well for what we need it for right now though so that's grand.

Now that the last wedding is over, I've worked out that it's 136 days from now until New Years Eve. Me and DH had a chat today and have agreed that we are locking down even further in terms of spending during this time, and use the counting down of days to keep us motivated. I LOVE a countdown - I think it's from when I was teaching and counting the days until the next hols :p - so I'm positive this will keep us on the straight and narrow :)

I've loads more to waffle on about but will leave it there for today - I'm so tired I feel a bit dizzy so better switch off

    Happy Sunday everyone :)

Today has been lovely, albeit a big reminder of the horrors of teething  I had managed to completely forget how nasty it is. Despite this, both boys have been lovely for my first day on my own for a while.

    £45 to the debt :D

I am 15p away from a payout on 0nepoll and keep getting screened out, I can't help thinking there's something going on there.....:p

I stocked up on craft things today which was a spend but should see us through winter. The torrential rain we had this afternoon made me realise I need many tricks to keep toddler star entertained through bad weather over the coming months, especially of we don't sell the house anytime soon :o

Fish pie for tea, which enough frozen for another meal. YNAB says we have £15 left in the groceries budget until next Friday, eek!! I'm not sure we'll do it but I reckon we can get v v close and I'm aiming to utilise my few cooking skills to eke out the things we have in the cupboard/fridge.

A day of puddle splashing is planned for tomorrow, can't wait!! :D

    Bank holiday weekend, woohoooo!!!

We are still a bit bruised from the withdrawn offer on the house but have rallied this week, and are trying to maintain the motivation that we'd had for decluttering and selling. I sold another nappy today, and requested my 0ne poll payout, finally!! I'm going to gather and photograph a few more things this weekend for a local fb selling group and I have gathered stuff for our next local nearly new baby sale. Phew!!

So things are happening, and we have made big inroads to the debts this month, however we have overspent in nearly every area  which needs pulling in big time in Sep. Handily, YNAB will do this and take the over spends from this month into next, which should keep us in check. I'm sad as I don't think we'll make my target of £20K by the end of this year (we would have done if we had sold the house) but I am still determined for the debt to be kicked to the kerb by the end of next year :o Signature update coming soon I promise!!

Still exhausted with the toddler!! It is definitely a tricky phase, although interspersed with moments of magic :p Baby star is becoming more of a force too, I would really like us to be in an easier house by this time next year otherwise I might go slightly insane....

Finally, I'm so sorry I am not managing to get to anyone else's diaries.....I've only just got my evenings back (and even then it's not guaranteed :p) so I'm planning on doing a big catch up one evening with a massive bar of chocolate and a brew, can't wait :D

    Happy (long) weekend everyone!!

our next local nearly new baby sale.

Are you sure that is legal:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:;)

Ours is late October - cant wait - have a pile of toys to sell ( no longer required for work - long story - work can jolly well supply their own resources  which will be a bit odf a shock for them in a weeks time!) and some games and toys belonging to my DDs which dont date - lovely wooden railway L*go and D*plo etc. Aiming to make £100.

Hope you are enjoying your long weekend

Lolz Igamogam :rotfl: Baby Star hasn't slept very much this week but even so, I think I'll keep him!

I'm not sure what your line of work is, but totally agree that work SHOULD supply their own resources, when I was a teacher I often ended up supplementing the resources from my own funds and it simply shouldn't happen.

Our nearly new sale is in November, lots to sell and funnily enough I'll be looking for d*plo to buy for Xmas. I'm hoping there'll be a little bit I can pounce on during the set up time!

  • Right, I've gone seriously off plan while I've been AWOL and completely lost my money saving mojo. However, I'm at the point now where my debts are making me feel sick and I've got a little ball of anxiety in my stomach all the time, which isn't helping anyone or anything. What it is doing, however, is kick-starting me bac on the road of good behaviour so I'm back on here with the aim of coming on nearly every day, as I really could do with the support :o

An update since my last visit:

Things are MUCH more settled with Toddler Star :) He has grown a massive amount which I think was contributing to the difficulties and is now sleeping again (for now) and is a little angel again (most of the time ;))

Baby Star is in his own room - at least for the start of every night :p

The money pit car has GONE :j And has now been replaced with a sensible economical car for me which is costing half the price, and is making life much much easier for both me and DH.

A few more little bits sold here and there :)

    OneP*ll payout received :)

So not all bad, but I am starting to have a little panic about houses, debts, mortgage rates etc etc so I need a really good sit down and sort out. Friday night is now film night in our house so I know what I'll be spending my Saturday night doing.......

It's good to be back people!! Happy Friday :D

  • Great to have you back Daisy! Don't worry..just sit down and make a plan. YNAB will help...we are finding it very useful but agree learning how to reconcile all the accounts was a pain and I have stopped Tilly Tidies now as too much of a faff to record which is a pity.

    Keep posting :)

  • Hi Brizzle, thanks, it's good to be back :) Good to hear positive things about YNAB, although I can totally see why you think the TTs are too faffy - I've been wondering about this and whether I'm going to be able to restart the PAD challenge (which I loved). I'm thinking not unless I simply make a payee called 'PAD' or something. I'm keeping my debts "offline" as I can't see how I can account for the interest on them and keep it all reconciled...... Anyway, we'll iron it all out I'm sure.

A quick post as Baby Star is not for settling tonight, I've already been in a handful of times and he's not a happy bunny :(

It's been a lovely weekend, with a visit to the seaside, some red arrows, a fry up (free :p), some damson gin (free :p), a quick catch up with friends, bulb planting and cake baking. Fabulous :D

I had a talk with DH about everything last night and we made a plan - I love a plan. We have cancelled Sky as the cheap deal had come to an end, saving us £25pm, and re-jiggled a few bit so things aren't looking dreadful. I've also verified my car insurance purchase through Qu!dco so that is another £45 to come soon I hope. I haven't managed to list on the Bay of E so that shall have to wait until next week now.

All in all, it's been lovely and I'm in a better place than I was when I posted on Friday. I will definitely keep posting, and one night this week I am going to settle in and catch up on everybody else's diaries, can't wait :)

  • Keeping up with the daily posting so far....!! :p

Mondays are generally just me and the boys as there is no pre-school, no groups and most of my friends work. So today we went for a lovely morning at our local lake, where we threw stones in, looked at the fallen leaves and found excellent sticks :D

Small spend day as we needed washing powder, there's not a chance I can wait until Thursday (our next income day) for that in this house!!

Surveys done, internet banking checked, we should make it to Thursday but it's going to be tight until payday which is all the way on Tuesday.

Spoke to the estate agent and have dropped the price, this should bring I into the price bracket of a good few more people so fingers crossed :o

To do - send a cheque for the work done on our rental.

One day at a time :)

    Hi Daisy...sounds like a perfect Monday :)

Re washing powder..I am currently resorting to a dose of borax, hand washing powder and bicarbonate of soda. A ratio of 1:1:1. Seems to work..and no need to buy any more powder :) I know you have littlees but a stain remover prewash may help and so far no complaints.

Every little helps and all that..(although writing that, and altho a big Tosco hater..have to say having a hole of £250m in your profit forecast is some accounting error!)
