  • Hi Sleepygirl, I've just read some of your posts, you are doing really well and very focussed. I haven't been on here for ages or posted on my diary but you've inspired me to start again. Thank you
  • Hi nifty ...thanks so much! I'm plodding on and trying to OP as much as possible without depriving ourselves too much!
I've batch cooked for the week as well as doing a nice Sunday dinner for us and DS and I have been to Mr T to do the weekly shop..
So DS has chilli + rice x4 and chicken curry and rice x4 in the freezer for about 80p a portion and much healthier than ready meals...little things like this help so much!

  • Hi Sleepygirl Batch cooking does make such a difference in saving money. I always manage to safe a portion to put in the freezer I have brought loads of plastic cheap tubs. I take loads of meals like this up to my daughter Who lives in an expensive area and is a teacher to help her out each month. Took about 14 meals up last weekend I visited. Anything to help her out and make life easier for her.
I want to go through all my receipts over the coming weeks. I have so many I have printed out or pulled out of magazines that I am sure that I have enough for a new receipe every day for life. A whole cupboard full. So need to sort, make and try some, could do with a change.
Wishing you a good money saving week ahead.

  • Aw that's a fab idea to help your daughter out...the only problem with batch cooking is having to play freezer jenga!!
We should definitely share some recipes on here...there are lots of batch cookers on here!!

  • So...I've hit a bit of a blip this month...I bought DS some new clothes and paid for theatre tickets and bought a new picture forgetting that I had to pay a chunk of my holiday off this month...we have £390 left for the month if I make my mid month OP of £155...so I'm going to give it a go! I can get away with a £10-15 fresh shop next week as the freezer is full, and we have plenty of tins etc...I have my savings there if I need them but I'm going to try my best...I've got some more stuff to go on fleabay so I can make some extra OPs.
It's 29 days of my life right?? I can do this!

  • So...I've tried to have a good start...NSD today...its hard work though! I love my £1 or 2 spend a day ...it stops me spending anything else!! My new picture came for the living room...it's lovely and exactly matches the colour scheme in there too!
I've sold my first thing on fleabay £12.50 for a crappy broken phone! So that's an OP and I also managed just under £10 OP from the money left over from the bills...I'm not sure if there will be much else but I will do my best!!
off to walk the dog, cook tea (DS is dying of hunger apparently) and watch the fantastic Liar!!

  • Morning! Im drinking tea and defrosting piri piri chicken that I bought in the butchers for DS' dinner tonight...I'll have a quorn thingy that's in the freezer...
It won't be a NSD today as I forgot to buy corn on the cob in Mr T on Sunday and it's DS only moan free vegetable so we have it weekly! I'm going to serve some nice baked potatoes with it!
I have also run out of prescription iron tablets and feel like death without them so I need some more...shouldn't be too spendy though!
On the upside business is going really well and I should be able to give myself a pay rise at xmas! Yay!

  • No OPs today but another item has sold on fleabay so that will be another OP for the pot...my Xmas vouchers came today and are safely tucked away ready to be spent nearer the time...I've started the direct debit to save for them again too in December ..
It's very cold today and I am considering putting the heating on...I hate to to it but we can't freeze!!!!

  • I've updated my signature and it will probably stay like that until mid month when my big £155 OP goes out on standing order.
The heating went on last night...it was chuffing freezing in here! I was bemusedly watching the Apprentice ...where on earth do they find these people from in the business world?
I'm still working towards a proper pay rise in December..it will be lovely to be on a proper wage again...it's looking promising so fingers crossed!!
