Why can't people just allow others to live their lives as they choose?!

I've had similar comments.

I think for some people, when someone makes a completely different choice to them they seem to view it as a criticism or an attack on their choice, so they get defensive/offensive.

It doesn't make sense, but people rarely do!

That is so true. I don't want children and I am also not sure I really fancy the idea of marriage. I have had so many occasions where I have said (in a very neutral tone of voice) the above and the person has reacted as though I have just said, "YOUR LIFE IS WORTHLESS!!!!!". It's very odd.
