  • Interesting.

I haven't got anything through yet, although todays post hasn't arrived yet.

I won't be taking them up on the offer though. Unless it's £40 a week or less. To me, a £30 weekly shop is about average. But I could bump it up to £40 if I included some xmas gifts and stocked up my store cupboard for winter. We'll see.
Because it's fun to have money!

Interestingly tesco at 150pw for 4 weeks gives you back 75 which is 12.5% of your spend. Mr M 40pw for 9 weeks is 11.1%, it may mean stocking up or getting your Xmas bits early but both are good deals.

It could be worth your while teaming up with a friend if you can't afford to spend the higher value.

I dont think its quite 12.5%. The catch with the £75 voucher is you need to spend £150 or more to get £75 off. So I work it out as 10% off deal which is ok, but not great. The key is to buy stuff in bulk that is on special so your shops post christmas should be a bit lower for a while.

We had one, but reading on it implied that we had to use a particular loyalty card. We have searched high and low and can not find the one specified so presumeably we would not qualify, we would never have been able to reach the required amount anyway. And, yes we do like them tart.
The only thing that is constant is change.

No disrespect to anyone but I really don't get this at all.

Sure £75 (or whatever) off sounds great but, as already mentioned, once you take into account the amount of money you have to spend in the proceeding month along with the amount you have to spend on the actual day you get the money off, it strikes me...

You have only saved about 10%.

You have fallen prey to a hugely obvious ploy to get you to spend all your money at the same shop.

The combination of those two things would be enough for me to chuck their vouchers (or whatever they are) in the bin.

Fair enough if you genuinely have no access to any other supermarket but, if you do, you could save far more than 10% by going to Aldi / Lidl, using MySupermarket and looking for half-price offers and Savvy Buys and plain old shopping around.

The supermarkets apparently refer to people who do this as "professional shoppers". Myself and many others do this. Thanks especially to MySupermarket, it doesn't take a lot of time at all to do a tiny bit of research and save a LOT of money.

Even taking into account a very small amount of extra petrol, I'd estimate I save anywhere from 25 to 40% on what I used to spend thanks to becoming a lot more savvy with my grocery shopping.

"10% off" isn't something I'd get excited about. If they stuck 10% off signs in the window, I doubt you would either. Half price or something like that is what I look for when I shop (and genuine half-price as well, which is why MySupermarket's Savvy Buy section is so brilliant).

Again, I mean no disrespect, I just get a bit peeved when the big supermarkets (who pay marketing people big bucks) get away with convincing people that they're saving loads of money by shopping in their store when it's actually just a "clever" way to get you to spend more, often on loads of things you don't really need.

  • My voucer came, spend £50 a week (in one go) for four weeks and get £25 off another £50 spend. I usually spend £50 in Tesco's a week anyway so no change of shopping habits will get me a £25 voucher, a pleasant bonus.

No, you don't have to literally use that card, as long as the card you use is linked together with the nominated card.
The card stipulated could be an old card that was set-up for Grocery Home Shopping - so if you do a lot of GHS that's why that card has been quoted.
Or, you may have a Tesco Credit Card - which you pay with, so they won't quote the credit card no., but the Club Card No., on the Credit Card - down the bottom by your name.

Yes, I understand what you're getting at, yet some people as well as the normal shopping - may have lists of presents to get e.g. ipads, kindles, bikes etc - so it will give an opportunity to participate in this.

I doubt if I will, already stocked up!!
