YNAB stands for You Need A Budget and it's a type of budgeting software that you can use. It's NOT essential and I want to make that really clear, because when you buy it full price it's £30 which is a lot of money. I happen to think it's excellent, but it's easy to look for quick fixes with MSE and budgeting, and this software won't change your habits; only you can do that. If you think you might like it, you can go to their website and get a 34 day free trial. That's enough for you to see if it's something that would work for you.

From memory, you can email to do it. You have to give them a couple of options in case the one you want is taken. I'll have a dig around and try to find the email address.

TBH I wondered the same. And contemplated lots of fun shots of haggis in hardhats - but seems I don't need to wrestle with him to achieve that.

    Morning!

It's still chaos here at Mooo Towers, with furniture all over the place, paint hanging off the walls and the cat entirely confused. The walls are in a right state, and the options we've been given are to get a plasterer in (four days work to replaster the whole room and a cost of who knows how much, plus our decorator wouldn't be able to do the job until the end of August as he has other work on) or just cover the walls with very thick lining paper and paint it. Guess what we've chosen? :money: In honesty, it's going to look so much better than it did before regardless, so I'm happy enough.

The painting should be done by the end of the week and the carpet is getting fitted on Wednesday. Then it'll be DONE.

Once that's done I can start looking at doing the kitchen next

In more general MSE news, the budgets are squeaky, to borrow Pippi's phrase, but in reasonable nick. My Nectar points are at 6945 / £34.72. I've not been doing much to gather more this week because of the general chaos.

NSK's challenge this month asks you to reduce your food budget by £20 so I'll be down to £130   I suspect I'll fail on that one, but I'll give it a go :D

Apparently there's a voucher in the Sun today for £5 of free fruit and veg at Morrisons. I'll let you know more when I have it :D

Nothing much planned today apart from getting money out of the bank for the decorator. I'm earning money tomorrow by taking part in an experiment at work - £6.50 in my purse and I'll be helping Science in my lunchbreak too :rotfl:

Ours is £5 off a tenner spend on meat. To be honest, that's worth more to my budget! I'm going to buy one paper on the way to work and if it's valid till the weekend I will get more and use them to fill the freezer for the month. £15 for £30 of meat would be well worth it to me!

Three papers bought :o That's going to be £30 of meat for £16.20 by the time you account for the cost of the paper, and I can easily get that to feed us for at least a couple of weeks if I stick to mince, chicken and whatnot. I might even treat Mr Mooo to some bacon :D

Last night I broke in my tiny budget with some bread, eggs and a canny big bunch of bananas for £3.20. I got 58p off thanks to a wombled Asda price guarantee receipt. :money:

It's the wee savings that all add up I guess...

£6.17 received today from Checkoutsmart. These wee apps add up if you only buy stuff you would buy anyway :D

I've added it to my spending money budget for the month as that's a little squeaky and my groceries fund has been boosted by the Sun vouchers :money:
