Diary of a spendy cow

- [STRIKE]Grocery shopping - aim to spend under £40 but stock the house well[/STRIKE] £19 spent so far, although I need crackers and wine still but will get them later on. House is bursting with food and the freezer is bulging.
- [STRIKE]Craft show! Have £20 to spend although Paypal balance will let me bump this to £30 in an emergency[/STRIKE] Spent £2 at the show on some more card, but there was nothing that jumped out and I didn't want to spend for the sake of it :A Treated myself to a new magazine on the way home, so total crafty spend is £6.99
- [STRIKE]Dishes (Mr Mooo doing as I've cut my finger quite badly.)[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Washing x 2 loads[/STRIKE] First ones on the line (It's blowing a hoolie here today so it's a rare drying day!) and the second is in the machine.
- Clean the bathroom
- [STRIKE]Take books to the charity bin/drop off point.[/STRIKE] Another 25 items out of the house :j
- [STRIKE]Hoover[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Tidy all the sh*te off the living room table.[/STRIKE]
Halfway there...!0 -
A very busy day yesterday has given way to a very lazy day today
I made a massive vat of bolognese last night, so have put the remains in the freezer as I got a reduced chook for £2.48 yesterday. That's heading for the slow cooker shortly for a nice Sunday "roast".
It's not quite halfway through the month and I have, again, spent more than half the food budget. Today I pledge to get my freezer inventoried! We have a second freezer too but I'm planning to empty, defrost and sell that as we don't use it enough and I value the space in my hall cupboard more than the freezer. I have a friend who is looking for one, so that'll be an easy deal done.
The washing basket is now empty again :j It was a cracking drying day yesterday - most stuff dried in two hours
Today I need to head to the post office because I have sold a load of stuff via FB again. That's another 8 items to the decluttering pile. I'm taking the rest of the books to the charity drop-off point too. Hopefully that'll be some Nectar points at some point. My balance is up to 4621/£23.10 which is pretty good for someone who rarely shops at Sainsbugs
Time for breakfast then I suppose I should start getting things done0 -
Freezer inventory:
- 450 extra lean mince
- Stewing steak
- Beef sausages x 2 bags
- Lump o'lamb x 2
- Bolognese x portion for two
- Pork sausages x 1 pack
- Chicken breast x 4
- Stew - 1 single portion
- Minestrone soup (enough for three bowls roughly)
- Chilli x portion for two
- 17 crumpets
- Breaded haddock
- Bag of celery for soup
- 2 whole chickens
- 1 pack normal mince
That's just the first freezer
So, time for a meal plan...
Sunday: Roast chicken (not one of the ones from the list)
Monday: Jambalaya with leftover chicken
Tuesday: I'm out for dinner with Mama and Papa Mooo, Mr Mooo to eat portion of stew
Wednesday: As above but Himself can have sausages for tea
Thursday: Bolognese
Friday: Chilli
Saturday: Possibly out for tea with friends...TBC
Sunday: Slow cooked lamb
Once I have been to the office and established if I'll have access to a microwave I can have soup for lunch which will be healthy, cheap and filling. That means that this week I can remove four tupperware containers from the freezer, making space for whatever is in the second freezer and readying myself for the next round of batch cooking.0 -
Well I know where I'd rather be for tea this week.
Poor EH is popping up and will be fed on scraps - she would be better at yours!
Well done on the washing we've got severe gales and squall here. Not so good for drying but fun watching folks trying to peg socks out.
Have a great day and good luck checking out the microwave/office situation.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

List of Doom
- Post sold items at post office
- Go to the doctor for a repeat prescription
- Take stuff to the tip
- Drop off old clothes for charity shop consignment
- Take old books to drop off point too
- Get house to reasonable level of tidiness in case the Family Mooo decide to visit while they're in town
- Prepare bags of stuff for Mama Mooo to take away with her (for her own charity selling)
- Dishes
- Attempt to tidy spare room (this isn't essential but I would love to get it started!)
I need to get started on a list for stocking up the house with food/household stuff soon as I got an email from Sainsbugs offering £15 off my next £60 shop, free delivery and triple points. It would be rude to turn it downThey're definitely not the cheapest for everything, but once we've eaten through some of the stuff in the freezer it'll be handy to stock up again.
Current state of finances are:
Current account: £43.14
Food: £69.61
Savings: £1648.43
Purse: £40 and some change
I'll be able to live off that £40 for spending money for a wee while, although I'm off to an exhibition today so that'll be £4 spent there and I suspect a cup of tea will be in my future too
Today will be a spendy day, and the spend will come from my savings. There's 3 for 2 at B&Q on paint at the moment and I'm desperate to get my living room done. The leak at the start of the year has left minor damage, but more than anything the room is tired. Exhausted really. I've never had the spare cash to get much more than emergency repairs done, and I really want to brighten the place up. We're going to repaper with plain paper and then paint it in a lovely blue colour. I can't wait! I guesstimate that we'll need to buy paint and lining paper but I also want to look in to removing our fireplace. It's been blocked off since we got our new boiler and the surround is outdated. If Mr Mooo is in the mood, we'll head to B&Q this evening when it'll be quiet!0 -

Not bad progress, especially as I managed to also drop off my P45 at the agency and meet some friends to go to an exhibition.
I will do a quick tidy before I go to bed and throw the stuff for Mama Mooo in bags.0 -
A solid productive day there, I would say. Well done :T
Lounge decorating sounds exciting - well, the end result rather than the doing when it's me :rotfl: Did you get to B&Q?
Good luck for tomorrow too.Back on the DFW Wagon:
